If you’ve every had a UPG or had a similar ‘wider’ para-experience, this movie gets way more right than wrong. It’s also right in how much of it has to do with personal perspective, which is why so many experiences can’t be shared with others in a way that has weight.

While I know you’re more than a match, I’m sorry you had to go through this. And I’m sorry this is still a thing.

I assume you’ve tried all the jewelry boxes, etc.? It may have played like a piece of jewelry?

Excellent review. I listened to the Hickey Hall interview when it came out and also at least one other, and it took a while for the film to be accessible to me here, but the depth of the discussion about it mad the film a richer experience too.

Embroidery depicts an owl in a tree, the trunk is wound by a snake climbing, there’s a deer at the lower portion of the trunk, there’s a tortoise to one side approaching a river that has a fish swimming downstream and a hedgehog at the very top, above the tree. There is writing down one side, but I don’t know what it says.

But why would people want to look like absolute fucking tools in public.

Think Craig is probably the best at pulling off the character. There’s an implied physicality & angular undercurrent while being presentable but not pretty.

Also, Roger Moore was too pretty to be Bond. The historic underlying thing is that James was also a ruffian. ‘Shaken not stirred’ is a specific reference to him being rough around the edges.

“Out in the orchard dwell wee little fairies,
Busy with bud and with blossom at last;
See how they work with their palettes and brushes,
Tinting the apple-trees brightly and fast.”

— from “Apple Blossoms” by Mary Dow Brine (1838-1925).

Please don't be afraid to share. Do try to keep *certain* things off here for your own protection (you never know who's reading or their intentions), but still, *many* things you're going through... you'll find you're not alone in that struggle. #UselessReflections

As a musician too, I have regularly proselytized about music being ritual magic. I didn’t need ritual in my life until I quit touring.

Something that opened my eyes was learning that all those corporate “affinity groups” are a relic of when corporations were allowed to have “yellow unions” (fake unions the corporation ran). They’re a form of pro-active union-busting.

The whole band had custom embroidered suits made…wore them once or twice then got rid of them because the heavy wool was too hot. One of the most famous is Graham Parson’s suit, though Nudie was more famous for country/western

The most amazing Nudie Jacket with Skulls, skeletons and roses.

Hear me out…this one is lost to the sands of time, and would certainly not fit me…but Jerry Garcia’s black Nudie adorned with roses and skeletons…I want this.

Also, I’d love a done-out 60’s or 70’s Nudie suit. I don’t think I could afford it…and they were famously hot and uncomfortable.
