as I'm working on my course notes (fusaroli.github.io/AdvancedCogn...) on categorization computational models, here is a shout-out to Andy Wills (not on bluesky?) and his fantastic work on standard implementations of categorization models. we need more common implementations and data!

bluesky's status page. it shows an orange dot with the headline "Some systems down". Further text says: "We are investigating an incident with service in one of our reginos [sic]. We are experiencing further issues. We appreciate your continued patience"

table 2 from the paper with a prior from the context rich model and the posterior from a minimal context model being similar
finally writing about it, and i think it's cool that that your fill-in-the-blank model (prior of the maximum context model) is competitive with the classic neighborhood activation model (posterior that uses word frequency and phonetic similarity).
i kind of get annoyed by low-dependency or simple alternatives for X because the cruft in X was from them solving the hard design problems

"In keeping with views on the sanctity of family that long predated Galton, the Catholic Church unsurprisingly came down especially hard on eugenics, particularly the practice of forced sterilization. In the encyclical of 1930, Pope Pius XI stated in emphatic terms that the state had no business deciding who was fit to get married or have children, a sacrament that, according to Christian theology, was given to mankind by God, and that “public magistrates have no direct power over the bodies of their subjects; therefore, where no crime has taken place and there is no cause present for grave punishment, they can never directly harm, or tamper with the integrity of the body, either for the reasons of eugenics or for any other reason.”
On the subject of popes and moral leadership, I was reminded recently that the strongest case I ever encountered against the eugenics movement was given by Pope Pius XI in 1930
soooooo this is why you had to research seeds. you need independent RNG between threads for a monkey typing demo 👀
the exposition about the modeling is pretty good compared to what you normally find

anyway it hurts to turn a steering wheel in one particular direct or put my phone in my opposite front pocket. it makes me admire muscle recruitment in complex movements
I was fixing something, got confused and tightened when I thought I was loosening something and tried really really hard to loosen and hurt one of those small lateral rib muscles? And then a weak lateral the one on the opposite started to hurt from … overcompensating?
