It is quite hard being in the same party as Simeon Brown tbf

I was despairing of it ever going mainstream! Turns out all it needed was a Middle East war and a fuel crisis.

Gotta love how Bishop has to act like these extravagant ideological follies he's now "concerned" about were some other government's idea.

Govt still looks to progress with Warkworth to Te Hana as is though... which is honestly the only real test.

Its easy to rescope the rest because they are yonks away, WW2TH is the only one close to being signed, and is also extremely over scoped.

'It keeps me awake at night': Bishop orders cost-benefit review of promised roads Infrastructure minister's concerns about unsustainable spending on over-specced projects is echoed by international credit rating agency, reports Jonathan Milne.

I am so glad we got the cost of the RoNS mainstreamed lol!

"Some are being cut back from four-lane to two-lane – but mayors at both ends of the promised $22 billion Northern Expressway say more needs to be done to make the roads affordable."

Infrastructure Commission to oversee major projects under new government plan The government it is shifting oversight from Treasury to the Infrastructure Commission.

It wasn't Treasury that made you announce $50 billion worth of trophy roads we can't pay for, and the Infrastructure Commission has already told you what a bad idea that is. I don't think either of them are the problem here. www.rnz.co.nz/news/politic...

Is reality setting in, re the Northland RONS? - Greater Auckland There have been a couple of pieces this week about a few parts of the Northland Motorway that show

“A bit like Dad splashing out on a six-figure sports car by taking out a payday loan, while the country as a whole is struggling to afford food and pay rent – and still mopping up from the latest climate disaster.”

RoNS reality is biting harder by the day: www.greaterauckland.org.nz/2026/04/22/i...

Oh I absolutely agree, but what I mean is that the information presented to them will be extremely poor, or complete bullshit, that essentially tries to justify the project regardless of actual evidence (see most motorway business cases).

Hence why you need independent reviews to improve things

I do wonder about what is going on for people who take the time out of their day to put down their car window and yell at me “get off the fucking road” when I’m just stopped at the lights waiting for my turn, not in their way at all.

Could it be the bicycle that offends?

Projects like the LNG terminal aside, it isn't actually bullshit in a lot of cases, especially in transport.

In New Zealand we already have 100% new e-bus sales, by policy, and will have 100% e-bus fleet by 2035, also by policy. Clean tech + regulation = win.

If Nicola Willis replaces Luxon and the Nats polling keeps tanking, would the attack line then be "Nicky no boats, no votes"?

After a long day Chairing committee some of us had the privilege to go inside the beautiful Te Waihorotiu Station to observe the City Rail Link timetable testing. The last time I was down was the final week we could walk on the tracks so it was amazing to see everything almost ready to open.

Oh look, theres no tangible difference in footfall data over that time either! Almost like most people who come to the City Centre don't need to drive through the middle of it?????

And this is in context of a shit economy and construction...

Fairey cont - so this NoM really just aligns with existing policies and so Council should make sure that there isn't blood on the knitting.

Vote now - Most support. Desley Simpson ad Fletcher support a and b, abstain on c, Greg Sayers and Bo Burns abstain on all, Ken Turner and Williamson oppose

Fairey cont - So claims should stick to our 'knitting' doesn't make sense as procurement is 'how we do knitting'.

And also Council has longstanding policy that takes stands on things like nuclear, war, tobacco etc. So already living values on how Council invests and spends money
