My love/hate relationship with elegoo filament continues...
The black PLA+ prints great, but prints end in catastrophe at the end of the roll. Earlier spools would stick to glue holding the roll together on the inside, now they get caught with a bend holding filament to the roll... 😩 #3Dprinting

I'll be attending his session with Fujita Haruhiro a little later today. Just finished attending a great talk on a Deep Learning Approach for 3D Morphological Ceramic Classification of Sue ware presented by Wataru Tatsuda from UCL & Kimiyasu Morikawa from Georgia Institute of Technology.

That being said, there so seem to be a few mismatches for scheduled time, so it's good to double-check!

Got a chance to do a bit of #photogrammetry work with some Final Jomon period pottery 🏺 (~2000yrs ago) from the Sugisawa site in Shiga Prefecture using the big turntable last week. Was a nice refresher on how all the bits a pieces of the system connect together. #Japan #archaeology #Jomon #3D

"UP to 2cm accuracy" is the bit of the description that gave me pause when it came out. So 2cm is the best case scenario?

1/ ProPublica collected handwritten letters in mid-January from children held at the Dilley Immigration Processing Center, the same facility where 5-year-old Liam Conejo Ramos was taken.

Hundreds of kids are still detained.

We’ll let the children’s words speak for themselves. 🧵

Alignment updates. Changed file structure which disconnected meshes & textures (too many to auto-link). Linked textures back, VR plugin not working with Blender 5.0. Unable to append models to older version, so I had to re-import 100+ models again. Up & ready for next week🫠 🏺 #archaeology #3D #VR

Indigenous Archaeological sites in BC are not 'misfortunes'.

My op-ed about the again-delayed reforms to the Heritage Conservation Act looks to Japan for inspiration in protecting and caring for Indigenous archaeological places.

In case anyone was wondering, here's the view you'll get if you decide to cancel your Sketchfab account & have models that exceed the size limits of the free account. The download option is disabled as well which might be important if you don't have a local copy for some reason. #3D #archaeology 🏺

4. Board Members Positions and Responsibilities

The 3D Analysis SIG is administered by six Board members. The Chair provides coordination for the group. The Chair is responsible for making sure that the SIG’s activities are planned effectively, conducted according to the CAA-International constitution and that matters are handled in an orderly, efficient manner. Board members are expected to share steering responsibilities and workload as much as possible. All Board members act as representatives of the 3D Analysis SIG community in CAA International conference meetings and activities. They are expected to attend the CAA-International and National Chapters conferences to the best of their ability and work in connection with the relevant CAA-International committees to actively promote and coordinate the 3D Analysis SIG activities.

At least one position on the Board is reserved for a PhD student.
Candidates should indicate whether they opt for the Chair position.
Geographic diversity is encouraged to enable broad international participation, and presence in forthcoming CAA International conferences.

We invite interested colleagues to join our Discord channel (https://discord.gg/GRkuE4F4) for informal queries, updates, and community exchange.
