Rangers GM Ross Fenstermaker on the new catching tandem: "I think we see it in a situation where [Higashioka and Heim] are going to complement one another. More of a time shared to equal playing time. I think a lot of that will be driven by performance."
Kyle Higashioka said former Rangers catcher and former Yankees teammate Jose Trevino texted him last night.
Trevino had great things to say about the organization obviously and wished him good luck in Texas.
The terms for the Rangers' deal with catcher Kyle Higashioka:
- 2025: $5.75 million
- 2026: $6.75 million
- 2027: $7 million mutual option, $1 million buyout
The Rangers have signed catcher Kyle Higashioka to a two-year deal with a mutual option for 2027.
Texas needed another catcher to share time with Jonah Heim, who was a Gold Glove and All-Star in 2023, but struggled last season.

Jonah Heim did not have a great 2024. He knows that more than anybody.
He’s looking for a bounce back in 2025.
