just off the top of my head some of my favorites are Michael Stipe, Neko Case, Tom Waits, Adrianne Lenker, Ryan Adams, David Berman. I’ve been known to be a bit of a lyrics snob at times. if the lyrics are bad it can ruin a song/band for me.
