BlueSky will never be as fun and interesting as old Twitter because Twitter was born out of whimsy and morphed into a place of concern and import pre-Elon, and BlueSky was immediately forced into a role as a forum in a time of tremendous despair and anxiety, has never been whimsical

The phrase “core memory unlocked” is wildly dumb, as it inherently suggests you have control over your children’s memory. They will remember what they remember.

Also, the word “iconic” has lost all meaning.

Tier 6 IS fixable — we've done it before, & we can do it again.

30 years is a career. Retiring at age 55 after working for that long is a good Fix for Tier 6.

@nyassemblymajority.bsky.social, @nysenate.bsky.social, reduce the retirement age, let’s get it done!

Now, if you want to say the stone axe or string or drop spindle is the greatest human invention- sure. But you can’t use the phrase “human history” to describe something that’s use predates history - it’s not how those words work.

My submission is the printing press, as we can literally gauge its impact on civilization using historical information - and let’s give the Chinese their due and not hand all the flowers to Gutenberg. Almost everything else that’s been suggested is prehistoric, making it not a part of history.

For it to be part of human history means it needs to be documented as an invention with record keeping, genuinely.. You would think lawyers who parse language would understand this!

Some pedantry for you: how can something whose existence is literally prehistoric qualify as an invention that happened in human history? The definition of prehistoric literally separates its invention from being a part of history. It can’t be both.

Also there’s no way the first one was a birthday present. This has shared Christmas present all over it.

And it would have stayed in better shape had it flown as its name and function implied

If you’re in a career where your profession is being legitimately decimated by AI, I can see a logic in not wanting to pay huge money to further that cause.

I’ve been told it’s important to put certain things on the record.

So I also advise bringing a vinyl copy of Supertramp’s “Breakfast In America” and leaning on it from slightly below your center of gravity when you “rest” your case.

Show them how crazy you are. No pants. Just suit coat, shirt, tie, briefs. I’ve been told this would work.
