Just so we are clear. Haitians are currently in the United States legally.
They are not here illegally.
Trump is revoking their legal status Feb. 3, and then, according to reports, immediately sending ICE in to Springfield and Columbus, Ohio, to target them.
The 5-year-old arrested by ICE In Minnesota is detained at Dilley. We reported on conditions there in the below article.
Parents said the food was contaminated with mold and worms & that children were so under so much stress that they were hitting their own faces & wetting themselves.

Ohio’s public schools had a rough 2025, losing billions in expected school funding while also gaining more responsibilities from the state. Gov. Mike DeWine doesn’t see it that way ohiocapitaljournal.com/2025/12/30/o...

More than 1800 detainees are missing after the closure of Alligator Alcatraz. Their families and lawyers can’t find them and they’ve vanished from the ICE database. Feels like this should be a much bigger story www.miamiherald.com/news/local/i...
Book cover for ‘Dispatches from the Land of Erasure: Essays and Conversations’ by Philip Metres. The cover features an abstract geometric composition of overlapping rectangular blocks in various colors including blues, reds, greens, yellows, purples, and browns against a light gray background. The blocks appear layered and fragmented, creating a mosaic-like pattern that suggests themes of fragmentation and reconstruction. The title and author name are displayed in clean, dark typography at the top of the cover.
When poets debate whether metaphor itself perpetuates harm, every image becomes an ethical choice.
@philipmetres.bsky.social's DISPATCHES FROM THE LAND OF ERASURE captures these heated conversations, changing how we approach poems that engage cultural difference.
