Three-ish panel comic: a pirate uses a telescope to look out onto the water and seems shocked. He yells out, “Captain! You’re not going to believe this!” Out on the water is what appears ostensibly to be a Pizza Hut, but underneath the surface we see the hut is actually attached to the head of a gigantic kraken squid monster.
Four years ago today, I posted my first beetle moses comic

"The Girl Detective" is one of my absolute favorite @nadiaradovich.bsky.social stories. Girlhood, point-and-click Nancy Drew games, and doing our best to remember the friends we lose prematurely. It's a quick, gorgeous read.

During my fiction hiatus I did write some CNF and a few poems that I'm still quite proud of. This may be a good time to try out a form of writing you don't typically do! I like centos--you don't need to write any new words, and it's a bit like solving a puzzle.

By the time FSotU rolled around, I was feeling a bit better and the contest excitement propelled me through 3 new stories. A friend likes to say that life moves in seasons. This may just be your season for rest and recovery.

For me, the answer was to stop fighting it and do something else. The more pressure I put on myself to produce work the worse the block became. I ended up taking most of a year off writing fiction, accepting that the spark would come back at some point and letting go of the outcome.

A poster of the poem "Light of My Life" by Ian Li inside a Toronto subway train
Ian Li posing with an overhead banner of his poem "Light of My Life" on a Toronto subway train
It's surreal seeing my poem "Light of My Life" (originally published in @astrolabe.ooo) featured on the Toronto subway, truly a dream come true!
Thank you to Poems in Passage for bringing poetry to the TTC, and thank you to Astrolabe for believing in my work.

"The body’s face breaks the surface of the surrounding earth like a swimmer coming up for air. It looks as if its features were carved from bronze: eyes closed, lips parted, brow wrinkled as if immersed deep in a dream. A hand emerges from the peat, extended as if in greeting."

Today I neglected my responsibilities to sew myself a comfy pair of boxer shorts with cute bows on the side to sleep in and I have to say for the millionth time how good it feels to MAKE THINGS. I'm an amateur sewist at best but they're still amazing and fit me perfectly. Get yourself a hand craft

Screenshot of Elmo next to his pet's fishbowl in Elmo's World. The subtitles say "We. Dorothy's been thinking abou and down to what’s her daughter."
four birds in a cartoon from Sesame Street, with the caption reading "Oh, shit"
Another Sesame Street cartoon saying "Oh shit"
Screenshot of Big Bird in Hooper’s Store with live human Alan and a flying red bird. The subtitles read: "Time for the birth of terror. Me"
Do not watch Sesame Street on Tubi with the subtitles on 😭. I swear, I didn't edit or add anything. Is it hilarious? Yes, but also, they need to fix this immediately. Absolutely incomprehensible and bad

I regret the purchase of the Kindle Scribe I got to assist in annotating article PDFs for my thesis. I've only had it two years and have the nagging suspicion they'll kill it somehow before 2030. It's a shame because it's actually a good device. I won't be purchasing another one.

Since Amazon is killing the nice, compact Kindle 4 I still use to read ARCs and travel with, this seems like a great time to check out Rakuten Kobo :) You chuds really think I'm going to buy a new Kindle device after you've demonstrated that you'll break it if you feel I've enjoyed it too long?

When I tell you I loved this piece. It is elegiac, atmospheric, and bittersweet. It is about desiring to see yourself across history. To feel you have invented nothing. To be part of an endless line of invisible kin, starting millennia before your birth until the end of time. Read it.
