This was also a man who was *in the room with us* as we interviewed the blind workers and had seen how the proverbial sausage gets made when it comes to filmmaking.

Don’t think for a second that your art can’t move people, because it will and in ways you can’t imagine in your wildest dreams.

When it came time to screen and critique the documentaries each group in the class worked on, one of the professors who was in the country with us as a chaperone was moved to tears and was emotionally moved by what my group presented, and it was by far the most powerful I’ve ever felt making art.

The topic my group was assigned to document involved a business that employs the local blind population. After much sweat and exhaustion, I spent that semester editing, trying to figure out how to use an inherently visual medium to convey blindness and some of the challenges associated with it

When I was still in university, one of the projects I’m most proud of involved several of my classmates and I going to Southeast Asia to film a documentary. Our class was split into groups, and each group would cover a different topic during the 10 days we were over there before the semester began.

I think this means that I should try making a leather hood sometime, shouldn’t I?

I’ll add my voice to the chorus here: Don’t confess to crimes online. Don’t implicate anyone you see at a protest doing something “cool” but technically illegal. Don’t post your own dubs at a protest doing something illegal.
