Very interesting. Each rotation of the Sun is known as a Carrington Rotation Number. The Sun is currently on rotation number 2309.

Wonderful image.
Very interesting read, Damian. I’ve owned this book since the 1970’s. It’s a bit battered and bruised but I still use it.
A waxing Gibbous Moon with dark grey areas representing the lunar seas, and the lighter grey areas representing the highlands. The image is peppered with craters, especially towards the bottom.
The #Moon is currently a Waxing Gibbous and looks stunning tonight. If you get a chance, go out and take a look, weather permitting of course. I took this photo with my Canon 700D DSLR and 600mm lens. Slightly sharpened and cropped in Gimp. #astrophotography #photography
There are three nebulae here: the red emission nebula, the blue reflection nebula and the dark nebula which gives the nebula its distinctive 3-lobed look. The nebula is set against a black sky peppered with stars.

The new series of the Sky at Night programme begins on 13th April on BBC4 at 10pm. The team are looking at the Artemis II mission and what it hopes to achieve. #astronomy
I use Siril. It’s a powerful piece of software and it’s free!
Thanks, Nigel.
Thanks very much.

Nothing worse than a soggy bottom, Nigel. Have a good Sunday.
Very nice.
The second word being “off”. 😂
Many congratulations. And no, you haven’t aged a bit. 😂
Already ordered. Can’t wait to receive my copy soon. (Currently reading First Light).
Very nice. I used to follow you on Twitter a few years back. Nice to see you on Bluesky.
I’ve actually managed to make 4/4 observations of the Sun this month and tomorrow could be 5/5!
The Waxing Gibbous Moon. The dark grey areas are the lunar seas, with a bit of colour, while the lighter grey areas are the lunar highlands. Towards the bottom of the photo are numerous craters.

Same here. 😒
An image of the blue twilight sky showing the position of the Moon, Saturn, Mercury and Venus.
If you have a clear SW/W horizon you should be able to spot the Moon, Saturn, Mercury and Venus after sunset. A nice photo opportunity. #astrophotography #photography
