Something extraordinary – yet predictable – has happened over recent days on Facebook.

Fake accounts that usually post anti-immigrant and anti-Muslim content generated using AI to fuel division and hate in UK are now pushing out AI-gen content asking:

"Should the UK produce its own fuel again?"

Je suis nulle en géographie mais le détroit d'Hormuz qu'on ouvre qu'on ferme qu'on rouvre qu'on referme, ça vaudrait pas le coup d'installer une chatière ?

Thirty-three to thousands —
red crown lifts above the marsh,
Hokkaidō breathes.

Japan’s red-crowned crane, once limited to just 33 individuals in the Kushiro Wetland in Hokkaidō, is rebounding after decades of conservation and volunteer feeding efforts.

Another informative piece of research from Skeptical Science, a team of volunteers who have worked very hard to debunk climate misinformation for well over a decade now. Very grateful for their contributions and work.

Climate change link to hysterectomy crisis among Indian sugar workers Exploitative conditions penalise workers for taking breaks, leaving women a grim choice to solve the ‘problem’ of menstruation

Another example of how marginalised groups pay a higher price in times of crisis.

Lots of No Kings posts are saying, find your protest and march. There are lots of reasons why marching with a crowd is just not happening for some of us from disabilities, enochlophobia (fear of crowds) to child issues. I would love to join in Austin but I just can't. Thanks to SUFS, I can join here

1973 board game Alaska Pipeline: The Energy Crisis Game was blatant pro-pipeline propaganda that mocked environmental concerns. Pipeline objections are given by a nosy, old woman & countered with "fact" cards. Exxon Valdez oilspill was 37 years ago today. #alaska #alaskahistory

Adam Smith said it was not benevolence that ensured he got his dinner.

Yet it was his mother who cooked it for him all through her life. Perhaps the invisible hand of benevolence was simply too hard for him — and for today’s mainstream economics — to see.

Fossil fuel pollution’s effect on oceans comes with huge costs » Yale Climate Connections A new study details the vast price society is paying for burning coal, oil, and gas.

A new paper led by @bbastien.bsky.social estimates that accounting for climate pollution's impact on the oceans via the one-two punch of warming & acidification nearly doubles the social cost of carbon (which the Trump EPA thinks is $0). My new @climateconnections.bsky.social article & 🧵 (1/8):

Dirty Business review – if this doesn’t incite righteous anger over our filthy water then nothing will Based on the true story of amateur sleuths appalled at the dumping of sewage in our rivers, this drama starring David Thewlis is a blast of controlled fury – and could become the next Mr Bates vs the ...

'If this doesn’t [move the needle], perhaps nothing will: this is a fist in the face, a blast of controlled fury that mounts an unanswerable case for the prosecution.'

A new all-electric double-decker Climate Stripes bus has started taking passengers around Reading today.

The bus shows the warming stripes for Reading back to the 1860s and will hopefully help start climate conversations amongst passengers.

I’m pleased to share my latest article in @uk.theconversation.com

It asks what overheated apartments, flooded rice fields, & invisible policy failures have in common, & how preventable harm becomes the slow violence of necropolitics in the Chthulucene.

Here's a short thread on some key points 🧵

HHS will allow pharmacies to boycott lifesaving drugs used in medication abortion Misoprostol and methotrexate do more than end pregnancies—but anti-abortion pharmacists can now refuse to offer them and still get federal funds.

The Trump administration formally withdrew federal guidance that required pharmacies to dispense methotrexate. Chronically ill people may face more challenges in getting this drug for their health. My latest for @motherjones.com. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...
