I can very much assure you that though the glasses and clergy robe are the same, my life is not the basis for the new show “Big Mistakes” by Dan Levy on Netflix. It’s a hilarious show though—😂
These two images are a real tour-de-force of the human capacity to simultaneously attain new heights and sink to new lows.
😍 I’m the luckiest.
I had to triple check this is real, but unfortunately it is. Happy Easter from POTUS.
It may be Easter but it’s also First Contact Day in the Star Trek universe—on April 5, 2063, humanity made first contact with an alien race, ushering in a period of exploration and innovation.
To celebrate here are some of my Star Trek cast autographs. 🖖🏻
My sermon from The Great Vigil of Easter last night. I hope you find it meaningful and I hope your Easter is special.
The one who hung the earth upon the waters now hangs upon a cross.
Today Christians mark Good Friday—the day we remember the crucifixion of Jesus. I have a reflection on the day out in The Christian Citizen. I hope you find it meaningful.
From poet Malcolm Guite on this Maundy Thursday:
“And here He shows the full extent of love
To us whose love is always incomplete,
In vain we search the heavens high above,
The God of love is kneeling at our feet.”
I can’t get that 21 minutes back… can I? I kept waiting for the April’s Fools joke.
If anyone is bored and wants to pregame the enthronement of the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury, here’s the order of service. 😇
Maybe Calvin was right about depravity after all…
My sermon from this past Sunday at John Street United Methodist Church. I hope you find it meaningful.

Run, Roy, run. This is the time to show the country what the Old North State is made of. For all those wondering, Roy Cooper is a gem of a human being.
Your work may feel lonely, the road may feel barren—but that’s what they want you to think. It’s a dangerous thing to think you’re alone. It’s more dangerous for them when you realize it’s not true.
If you’re in a state with a primary today vote like our democracy depends on it. Because it does.
I registered my grievances today by voting in the North Carolina primary election. I loved that a local student designed our “I voted” sticker.
With the tombstone and epitaph of The Rev. John Wesley in London, who died this day in 1791.
My 8 year old daughter imposed ashes on my forehead this evening at church. I asked her if she knew what to say when she put those ashes on someone’s forehead. She responded that she did and said, “God loves you” as the ash swept across my head.
What a perfect thing to say.
Blessings on this Ash Wednesday. May it prove meaningful and reflective.

If God didn’t send Jesus to condemn the world I doubt He sent you.
The Rev. Jesse Jackson died today. He was more than a civil rights advocate turned presidential candidate—he was a trailblazer whose desire was to bring all of us along for the ride. He will be sorely missed.
Friends, as Ash Wednesday approaches it is my solemn and steadfast duty to remind my clergy colleagues to never mix the ashes with water unless you want to burn your parishioners with lye.
Here’s to a holy and safe Lent.
Threads is a funny place.
The author of The Muppets Christmas Carol was born on this day in 1812–here’s a photo of his grave I took in Westminster Abbey.
I don’t know—maybe we should ask defenders of the president’s post to explain how it’s NOT racist… oh the mental gymnastics would be worthy of the Olympics.
