A cursed headline comparing Jerry Garcia to Ronald Regan
I think I just stumbled across the worst headline of all time
That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's trip. He crashed around America selling "conscious expansion" w/o ever giving a thought to the grim meat hook realities that were lying in wait for the people who took him seriously...
This is so great
From the late 90's I heard both the police code story, &/or that it was started by hippie students at California Universities as a meet up & smoke time - after classes & before dinner
I also heard it was the time to drop your acid if you wanted to be peaking when the Dead took the stage
Joe Strummer & Bob Weir in April '84
It's good stuff. Smoking China Cat->Rider. Dave chose wisely including this as filler for the 4/20/84 release from a few years ago
I would've loved to have seen Raye at Radio City this week, but those tickets were like $300-$400, & that's just too much. This industry is broken
Better late than never, but bong hits & JGB. Time for church

So @zzbenz.bsky.social and I are going to 4/30 Phsere together (🥰) thanks to The True Stallion @simonb72.bsky.social. And we just realized we’re dummy scorpios if we don’t try to also hit Friday 5/1. So ISO 2 for Phriday (get it? 😉)!!
If anyone has a Sphere single for 4/24, please lmk 🙏🏼. It’s for a very good friend of mine. Thanks. ✌️
The story about the lady getting kicked out of Radio City for working for a law firm w/ litigation against MSG was my first realization about it. Now I show up to the Garden each year with a poem extolling the virtues of James Dolan & his business practices, just in case they make it policy that day
If there's a baseball heaven, Garrett Anderson just opened his eyes on a summer night at Yankee Stadium to an 80 mph hanging curve that he hit 425 feet into the right-center bleachers
RIP to a certified Yankee killer
in the vault & control over them that was collateral, not just the "rights" to releases. If it was the "rights," & not control of the building & physical media inside that is/was the vault, that allows the caveat for the author claiming the vault wasn't part of the deal. Makes more sense now, thanks
I did not realize the personal grudge, but Jill is not presented in a kind light, & Phil comes across as "it's my way or the highway" a bit, but I think he also got Phil's perspective of "I'm not leaving my legacy to these idiots (his former bandmates)."
I guess in my mind it always was the tapes..
Yes
I figured you were an involved & seasoned Head, but I didn't realize how personally close you were to it all. One question for you: in the book Fare The Well, the author claimed control of the vault was never in question, which ran contrary to everything I had ever heard, do you know if that's true?
Bobby was pissed at Phil after that deal fell through, b/c they had to lay off a lot of staff they had employed for yrs. However, I think the company they would've signed with went bankrupt & they would've lost control of the vault or had to buy it back, so yet another reason Phil was right
I think I had forgotten how vocal Phil's response was. You're right, if he doesn't speak out against it, maybe they hold tight to their decision & we don't even have the option to stream the sbd's for the past 20 yrs
Nothing as of now. The Dead announced a new streaming service for their music through nugs yesterday, & I'm just wondering how long until that affects our ability to find shows on archive or relisten, as they do their best to steer us towards buying the subscription
Very true, but it shouldn't have come to that. They should've gone about that differently than just taking all the sbds down overnight with no warning
Glad to hear they still remember that Archive debacle & that Lemieux should be on the side of allowing the accessibility to the music as it is, but like you said, I could see it becoming more of an issue when the OG heads retire/move on, or if the subscriptions ain't selling like they projected
How long until the Dead take their music off of archive, relisten, & any other sites so that we have to buy subscriptions to their service?
i say 3-5 yrs. Jerry ain't running the show anymore
I'm going. That's all there is to it. I'm there
Me too. The only other time I've ever gone was for a friend's wedding. I just recall that Vegas police don't fuck around & I'm not trying to get a ticket, or worse, from a cop who's looking to ruin someone's weekend
I'm sure I'll figure something out. Weed being illegal has never stopped me before
No, but I figured maybe NYC on the streets style wouldn't be a problem. Apparently it's illegal to smoke anywhere on the strip
My hotel did have an option for a smoking room, obviously just tobacco, but apparently they still exist
So, in Vegas, you can buy & possess weed, but you can't legally smoke it anywhere other than a private residence?
If I had known that I would've gone for a house instead of hotel for next weekend
