one of the greatest human triumphs of my lifetime is the relentless, unceasing, heroic effort by DECADES' worth of doctors and scientists to find a cure for a disease much of the world didn't take seriously for years because it predominantly affected a community they thought kinda deserved it

Not saying anything new, but for how hopeless the setup of Iron Lung is, I found it weirdly life-affirming? In lots of horror media the characters get oddly accepting of death/do dumb shit/go in guns blazing and it's so refreshing & agonising to have your doomed protagonist want to live so badly!!

Why does the age of ai-slop writing have to be at the same time where I finally learn how to use the em-dash correctly 😭

worth remembering, David Lynch directed “fix your hearts or die” specifically at transphobes. it wasn’t a generic “no mean people allowed” statement, it was said by his Twin Peaks character in defense of a trans woman he cared for and deeply respected.

Trump wants media outlets charged with treason. This is how dictators talk.

MAGA influencer accounts are baselessly accusing Thomas Massie of killing his wife.

Massie refuses to help Trump cover up the Epstein files.

There's something fucked up about this fandom viewing ugliness as evil and beauty as good; I see it all the time with Viktor, where Arcane Herald is treated less like Viktor and more like a monster that needs to be purged to return Viktor to a more "pure" "beautiful" noticably human state

This isn’t about just one investigation. It’s about a presidency treating the entire legal system as something to be broken or bent whenever it stands in the way.

An edited version of the My Neighbour Totoro poster of Totoro and the girls at the bus stop with the title changed to My Neighbour Toto. Instead of the girls, it’s me, Toto, with a toadstool umbrella, big round glasses, long black hair, and gnome outfit, next to a render of Arcane Herald Viktor. This implies that I am the creature of the forest looking over Bugtor and presumably Jayce.

Daniel, you say you’ve been organizing in the streets.

Real organizers don’t stand around with their hands in their pockets while others do the work.

Let’s stop pretending.

Personally I like technology but I understand it as something that 1) Reliably 2) Does something useful. That doesn't seem to be true for these chatbots outside of some limited applications but we're supposed to act like it is and saying otherwise is Luddism

I have a lot of regrets in my life, but probably none more so than skipping Daft Punk during their Alive 2007 tour because I was up all night working before the show.

Measles was wiped out in the U.S. 25 years ago and now we’re already past 1,000 cases in February because vaccination rates dropped below the safety line. This is what happens when public health gets gutted and people stop trusting basic science.

A doodle titled “yeah I love the writing process” and showing four different scenes. A figure hunched over a piece of paper, another hunched ferally over a laptop, a third making a “werk queen” face at a keyboard, and a fourth dissociating in their chair.

when you feel even the smallest spark of "i want to make something" or "i want to do something", do whatever it takes to hold onto that feeling, because it's so easy for your dreams to get swallowed up in the everyday struggle to survive

Very sad that we only have a few short days before cheese and wine will officially contain calories again. Genuinely aggrieved.

screenshot from an ebook. the text reads: "Perfectionism is not a quest for the best. It is a pursuit of the worst in ourselves, the part that tells us that nothing we do will ever be good enough— that we should try again.

No. We should not.

“A painting is never finished. It simply stops in interesting places,” said Paul Gardner. A book is never finished. But at a certain point you stop writing it and go on to the next thing. A film is never cut perfectly, but at a certain point you let go and call it done. That is a normal part of creativity—letting go. We always do the best that we can by the light we have to see by. "
