There should be no excess value in exported gas such that another nation can make more (or any at all frankly) money from it in tax than Australia where it came from!!

Ed Husic calls out Japan’s hypocrisy of resisting gas export taxes while pocketing $40B in energy import taxes.
“They import it, collect tax revenue, & make money reselling gas they’re not using themselves.”💥
Australia’s resources, Japan’s revenue.
This has to change. #auspol
So China & Tesla don’t steal all the headlines, Volvo Trucks (Volvo Group) quietly put 5,000+ electric trucks into real-world deployment, logging 100+ million zero-emission miles over the past five years.
Not under Geely. Not hype. This is happening. EV trucks are scaling everywhere, all at once.
It’s the tax you never need to pay!
Shock: Big corporations don’t like tax proposal that would reduce their mega profits to merely large profits.
The real question is, why do they even get a say? A corporation is a legal construct not a voting citizen.
Can’t help but feel this is a ‘Westminster bubble’ story. Utterly irrelevant to most ordinary people who are primarily concerned with getting on with their lives with hope for the future. Seems the govt is steadily addressing the 14 years of fuckwittery and seeking to reposition in the world. Amen.
A critical Atlantic Ocean current is weakening faster than expected – and could reach a tipping point within decades.
The consequences would be global, Stephen Prager writes.

@space4cyclingbne.bsky.social Good points! Brisbane would be easier and cheaper to create real cycling infrastructure in as well. More road space for one.
All quiet on the UK’s lies industry front.

NEW: Richard Tice failed to pay almost £100,000 in corporation tax, benefiting his investment company which made large donations to Reform UK.
First time Reform's deputy leader's tax affairs can be directly linked to finances of Nigel Farage's party.
Works perfectly well in Australia.
That’s not a compulsory insurance scheme. By compulsory I meant that the vehicle is insured against 3rd party injury regardless of driver as the premium is paid with your annual registration cost. It attaches to the vehicle not the driver.
Time for compulsory insurance scheme as we have here? Registration annual fee includes 3rd party insurance.
"The masters of war pretend not to know that it takes only a moment to destroy, yet a lifetime is often not enough to rebuild. They turn a blind eye to the fact that billions of dollars are spent on killing and devastation, yet the resources needed for healing, education and restoration are nowhere to be found." -Pope Leo XIV
And collected from those well able to pay because they make extravagant profits from resources that belong to Australia and Australians that they currently pay little or nothing for!
Access to information doesn’t remove the need for education.
You mean Marmite?
Queensland just hit 80% renewable energy! 🌞 With solar, wind, and hydro leading the charge, it’s a bright spot in a coal-heavy past. Can't wait to see those batteries powering the future! reneweconomy.com.au/renewables-hit-80-pct-sh...
Oh come off it Davey. How the flying heck is Labour supposed to fix 14 years of dumbfuckery in 2? Given the disastrous impact on the economy and the damage to the UK’s standing with its neighbours.
And proving that ‘net worth’ is no reliable guide to ability, inventiveness or contribution to human welfare. Mostly luck and greed.
The whole "cyclists are entitled" thing is obviously bullshit, but when it happens it's worth unpacking what those people are really saying: "I don't think cyclists are entitled to ride without the risk of serious injury or death."
That's all we are asking for. And it's ghoulish to oppose that.
I feel like people focus a little too much on Bruce Springsteen having a slightly cringey stage persona singing boomer music and not enough on that boomer music being pretty fuckin good and him genuinely caring about stuff
I was there!
Meanwhile, whilst humans squabble over who gets to extract and ship fossil fuels, the planet reminds us we need to stop it.

Does Japan have a leg to stand on? Given they re-export large quantities of Australian gas at a profit, they can hardly complain if Australia decides to keep more of the profit here by way of an export tax.
