I know this is me still mourning a long dead world but it does feel remarkable that, not that long ago, British papers on the right would have run editorials and columns arguing that Hungary showed that only a solid, reliable centre-right party could defeat dangerous populists, but now? [crickets]

Just a wonderfully ridiculous half which still contained quality pieces of play. The LBB 50:22 save was so close to being an utterly ridiculous piece of skill!
The interview also contained this which shows just how unserious the Greens are. Decommissioning operating nuclear power plants is a guaranteed way of increasing carbon emissions!
If the players are that convinced why would you not just check in case?!
The problem with "do the popular thing" is that people still hate the downside consequences, and don't give you any credit for it being the thing they voted for.
Our lineout just hasn’t been good enough today. #SHAvCAR
Latest post assesses current state of the war. Looks at the state of American decision-making, how it was caught out by Iranian response, the difficulty reopening Strait of Hormuz, and why hardliners in Iran may make it difficult to get a ceasefire. (£/free trial) samf.substack.com/p/the-split-...
Good to see that Cardiff Council are installing residential cycle hangers across the city. However one cycle space - equivalent to 1/12th of a parking space - will cost £120pa, while a parking permit costs £35pa. Hardly encouraging people to give up their cars!
Column. On Trump, Hegseth, small dick energy, and moral decline.

What a carry by Menoncello!
Isn’t it 20% of global LNG (with LNG being ~10% of global gas) rather than 20% of gas? (Figures off the top of my head). So just incredibly bad rather than completely catastrophic!
So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:
- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.

Very, very lucky. Clearest red I’ve seen in a while.
Yeah it’s really noticeable how we have a lot of very good club players, just not the international quality that is needed. But I really hope we don’t drop Mann, his ability to wind up opposition players brings comic relief when there’s very little else to smile about!
friend recently said of a mutual acquaintance that "she's not hot enough to be this cold" and I would say I've thought about it every day since hearing it, an all-time great catty comment, unimprovable
Ian McKellen is 86! And yet he retains all the power and focus that makes this so special.
One lesson of the last week is it's a bad idea to tell the FT politics team to fuck off.
The only time a yellow isn’t awarded with a penalty try is when the ref doesn’t know who the infringing player is (for instance a collapsed maul). What’s he supposed to do now? Go eeny meeny miny moe?!
Do think the gender difference of the apps is often overlooked. As a bisexual man I’d say I receive ~50-100 times more likes from men than women. Means the app experience of a straight man is very different from that of a woman or gay man.
When everyone agreed on the basic facts but interpreted facts differently quoting both sides was an acceptable way of maintaining balance and impartiality. But the BBC needs to learn we’re no longer in that age, and that being impartial now is saying this is what happened, these people are lying.
Tesla’s market capitalisation is a million dollars for every car they manufacture in a year! Utter stupidity.
Yeah if there is three teams I can make an argument for Dragons, Cardiff, Ospreys (biggest cities, most long term fan potential), and a stronger argument for Cardiff, Ospreys, Scarlets (most successful sides, Newport and Cardiff are very close), but the argument for Scarlets, Cardiff, Dragons?!
Thinking of all the people who said that Reeves had lied to give herself too much headroom in the budget. Feels like that £20bn is evaporating away quite quickly!
The answer for city centre vs town/suburban high streets is likely to be very different. Higher densities and more ‘activity’ focused stores can work for city centres (which is starting to be seen already). But is there the demand for that in towns / suburbs and if not what is the answer?
It is noticeable that the only thing they trust the government on is protecting minorities, and I’m not sure that is seen as a positive by them!
