Trump media company drops lawsuit against the Guardian TMTG drops defamation claim over report that prosecutors were investigating payments received as possible money laundering

This has been my experience w/Trump & his allies. They mostly lose their civil lawsuits or simply walk away. Happens far more often than not & should be grounds now for sanctions as it is either clear strategy to intimidate and/or frivolous claims.

Video ‘They didn’t even know what we did’: Former official on DOGE cuts that gutted USAID | Whistleblower Aid Congratulations to our client Nicholas Enrich on the publication of his new book, "Into the Wood Chipper"! In this interview with ABC News, Enrich, a former USAID Acting Assistant Administrator of Global Health, describes finally getting a chance to explain the 60-year-old agency's health work the day *after* his team was let go. “I just gave a high-level overview,” Enrich says. The top brass, he discovered, didn’t know what USAID did. “‘These are the infectious diseases we work on. Here's what we do in maternal and child health…’" he says he explained. "And the chief of staff looks at...

"I had no idea that USAID did this kind of work," USAID's chief of staff told our client, former USAID Global Health chief Nicholas Enrich, as he described the agency's life-saving programs. "I just assumed it was just abortions." Which USAID never funded. More:

I have known Daniela since she was a little girl (her father Allan Gerson & I filed the first lawsuit against Libya for the bombing of Pan Am 103 back in 1993) & watched her grow into an award-winning immigration reporter (New York Times, CNN, Der Spiegel, Financial Times, and Los Angeles Times).

Daniela Gerson — The Wanderers: A Story of Exile, Survival, and Unexpected Love in the Shadow of World War II - with Amanda Katz — at Conn Ave An immigration journalist and her wife trace their family’s intertwined past to unearth a history of how hundreds of thousands of Polish Jews survived Hitler’s Holocaust at the brutal hands of Stalin — a story that sheds light on the enduring power of hope and love.Daniela Gerson and her wife, Talia Inlender, met at a picnic in Los Angeles, not knowing that 75 years earlier, their grandparents had left homes only blocks away from each other in a small Polish town, and fled east to Ukraine. The Gersons and the Inlenders would go on parallel odysseys of 5,000 miles to survive the Holocaust – one that would, after a deceitful loyalty test from Stalin, put them on cattle cars to a Soviet Gulag, years in limbo in Central Asia, and would end, after a decade on the run, with new lives built on secrets and lies. For years, Daniela and Talia simply accepted this painful shared history as a sign that they were b’shert, meant to be. Their families’ refugee past fueled their work: Daniela as an immigration journalist; Talia an immigration attorney. But as Daniela uncovered more, she realized that their grandparents shared this escape path in the Soviet Union with most Polish Jews who survived; a group — sometimes collectively called “the Wanderers” – that is almost entirely absent from popular understanding of World War II. And unlike most Holocaust sagas that focus on the exceptionality of the Nazi genocide, theirs was also a universal story of refugees making impossible decisions when forced to seek safety, protect their children, and find new homes. A story that, to the dismay of the world, remains relevant each time a political upheaval wreaks havoc on individual lives.Part genealogical detective story, part gripping history, part contemporary reporting on war-torn territories, The Wanderers chronicles Daniela’s journey to unearth this past with her wife, and reveal its echoes in still-contested lands from Ukraine to Israel. The Wanderers is a groundbreaking narrative history, and a meditation on how a home left behind and a desperate journey to survive reverberates across borders and through generations.

For those in DC area, Politics & Prose is hosting my friend @danielagerson.bsky.social tonight at 5 pm to discuss her new book:

ICE Whistleblower Ryan Schwank Exposes Agency’s Unconstitutional Practices Democracy Now! is joined by Ryan Schwank, an ICE whistleblower who has been speaking out about how the agency drastically slashed its training standards for new officers. Schwank worked as an ICE lawyer and legal instructor in Georgia until he resigned last month. He also speaks about how violent arrest tactics by ICE agents, like those seen in Minneapolis, should only be employed in certain circumstances: “Those things should only be done as an act of...
