party mechanics aren't different, *race dynamics* are different. those examples you have aren't comparable to the 2016 gop primary or now. what we have here is a clear noxious choice not favored by the majority, and a bunch of candidates who up to this point have prisoner's dilemma-ed themselves

i've missed a couple flights before so i know what it's like. for work, no big deal. leisure, the cost is not a big deal (we got a later flight) but it was nearly catastrophic for the actual vacation (missing a critical connection). why care if you spend an extra 30m doomscrolling at the airport.

i responded elsewhere that the true cost of a missed flight is time, which you can't get more of.

now w/ kids, i think will is extra insane. i am not going to risk a half day or more of their finite school vacation time bc i don't want to arrive 30m earlier at the airport.
