Giles was so generous with his time and so helpful when it came to explaining to journalists very clearly and with quotable precision exactly how a wrong un landlord was being a wrong un. But mostly I just remember thinking he was a really, really kind human who cared about the state of others.

"Is Ukraine winning the drone war?"
The Russians certainly think so.
What are the implications of Ukraine's innovations for the war and, more broadly, for how other countries should be thinking about drones?

A photograph of a young boy's face and shoulders. His hair is short - two strands fall on his forehead. The photo is very blurry. You can see that he is wearing dark clothing. Behind him the outline of some building or fence is visible.
19 April 1935 | A French Jewish boy, Bernard Nugelman, was born in Paris.
He arrived at #Auschwitz on 21 August 1942 in a transport of 1,000 Jews deported from Drancy. He was among 817 people murdered in gas chambers after the selection.
Except most of the hate and bullying is anonymous. I suspect even university students wouldn't say what is posted here and on the other place to their victim's face.
Thank you for reading it.
Most of which is posted by men and aimed at women.
‘Things could go backwards’: Kezia Dugdale talks to Helen Pidd about safety, LGBTQ+ rights and the future of Stonewall, announcing her new role as chair

He who dares attempt to defend she who shall not be named...
(I don't think this person who writes mostly abouts birds and the weather knew what he was getting into!)
And right on time...just been blocked by the other person in this exchange. That's the problem. People take entrenched positions and refuse to tolerate the slightest challenge to their world view. Most women won't post on this subject knowing they'll be piled on...often by a load of blokes!
She hasn't changed her basic stance in the last decade.
She's become more vocal, but I guess that could be down to the rape and death threats she and her children have received.
Very pleased to see Kezia Dugdale as chair of Stonewall. She radiates decency, tolerance and understanding and, in my view, those are just the qualities needed to escape from a harmful culture war which I firmly believe most people don't want.
Oh really! 😂

Stop praising Orbán for not attempting a coup.
He only stepped down because Magyar's win was too massive to steal.
He rigged the constitution, captured the institutions, and used state media to his advantage.
He did everything he could to destroy democracy, and he failed
It's nonsense. They are telling Helen Pidd off for writing a factual report from a court case. And they should know - especially as one of them claims to be a journalist - reporters have no say whatsoever in how their reports are "presented".
(You may have also noticed, they always go after women.)
If you’re just waking up, here’s what we know so far about last night’s firebombing of a Synagogue.

From @theathleticfc.bsky.social: New Jersey Transit confirmed on Friday that World Cup match goers will be charged $150 for a return rail trip from New York's Penn Station to MetLife Stadium in New Jersey this summer. Tickets are ordinarily priced at $12.90.
Quite a flex to turn up at the presidential palace, get him to confirm you as prime minister, call him unfit to serve with no moral authority, tell him to resign, and then pose for a picture
