Millions upon millions are desperate for someone to help them- they don’t care about “democracy” because they think it means status quo of the last 45 years. We cannot assume people who voted for Trump actually liked Trump, maybe they were just hoping he could bring the change Obama promised.

Unless a large coalition of voters actively promote a third party as a viable option. If 10 million people hold a rally to support a “ Rational Party” with a strong platform and mission statement, strong candidates, strong messaging, a third party could supplant a weaker party.
There was a social science study that concluded if you do not compensate public employees well enough they are susceptible to corruption (bribes & kickbacks) so we do need to be careful how we figure this out.
Sorry, term limits have been a disaster in Michigan, lots of unintended consequences (google it) but I do think an age limit is called for. We already say how old a person must be to be allowed to be a Senator,Rep.,or President. We need a top age - you cannot turn 72 before being sworn in to office
