It’s cool how the people who control the US government right now just openly take it as a personal attack when the Pope says something like “God will not reward evil men”

What language are you learning?

Yes I often hear English people making negative comments about Irish names/words they see written down because they are trying to pronounce them using English phonetics.

I do think that it's harder when your original language is not at all related to the one you are learning. I know adults from Japan and China who have lived in UK for decades and are fluent but very accented

I definitely think age is a factor. Kids don't come with preconceived ideas about pronunciation. They just listen. My daughter and kid next door could say each others names perfectly (Irish/Pakistani). And Polish kids who arrived with no English were flawless in a year.

It's ridiculous. Especially as the whole season is over in the US and spoilers everywhere.

Sorry, Trump's not on the verge of death - if he was there'd be huge movements in Polymarket due to all the insider trading.

So today I am having to message random strangers who are sending birthday wishes via social media to a family member who has died some time ago.🙁

Are you still planning an Italy trip? I have sneakily added Florence to a trip to Bologna later this year. Am already over excited.

I feel the chai one might be acceptable as not too different from the standard one.

Don't say "nobody told me" and not expect me to forward you the email where I did in fact tell you.

It is being reported on the ground in Cuba that everyone on a ventilator at this hospital died overnight.

As a Cuban, I'm devastated.

New book 'We Need To Talk About Roy' tells story of modern Ireland via Keano 'Roy Keane didn't remember me... You don't remember the mediocre players'

Great read for the Keano fan in your life 📖 ⚽️

"Someone" in this family has a habit of using the nice white ones which are great for glasswear to mop up coffee spills. It never comes out.

I know. I had to ask my mother to stop getting them from the bank for kids birthdays as they had to then take them to the bank to change them. €50 notes are commonly used so she didn't realise it was causing an issue.

Showing my age here but pre decimalisation, all the coins in Ireland had animals and birds on them. In fact that might have continued until the Euros were introduced.

Irish people love talking about politics and current affairs. It was only the morning after the Brexit vote that people at work (in England) talked about it and that was because they were so angry.
