So if you'd like to sponsor a queer book for queer youth, you can do so for as little as $5 at the link above. Thank you for sharing, for sponsoring, and for helping us spread more queer joy in our province. β₯οΈβ₯οΈ
But thankfully we don't have to do it on our own, cause our community cares about queer youth and I think we are *all* looking for ways to reach out to them and give them a big hug to show they matter, and we know they deserve representation and normalcy and joy.
We started by spontaneously donating 82 queer YA books to the Fyrefly Institute for Camp Fyrefly, a leadership summer camp for queer 14-22 year olds. Did we have the funds to do this? Kinda. Can our businesses sustain this kinda donation? Not on our own.
So about a week ago I had the pleasure of announcing a new joint project between The Book Archive, another local queer-owned bookstore, and Alphabet Soup: Bookish Care Packages for Queer Youth. Our community has been showing up to support and we're so excited to share.
PSA for indie authors: as a tiny bookstore that wants to carry your book it would be super helpful if you included wholesale info on your author website, even if it's just to get in touch via email for details!

ππ A really interesting world, a good blend of adventure & emotion (& spicy moments!), great side characters (The Kid! the band mates! the Belamore bookshop!) and a cool spin on the quirks of being trans make this a great book.
