And remember we (1) have no formatting requirement, (2) cover anything that the conferences cover, and (3) our reviews are from all over the globe - we're a plurality, and proud of it. =)

So ... we heard a rumor that both the @nat-com.bsky.social and @aejmc.bsky.social manuscript submissions are right about now (#NCA26 passed, #AEJMC26 coming up).
Sounds to us like The Best Time to send those papers right over to Global Perspectives in Communication, eh? All COM, all open-access. =)
As you get those #NCA26 papers submitted, don't forget that we are a *fantastic* open-access option for a wide range of communication and related areas of work. We publish work across epistemologies and methodologies, and we turn things around very quickly: mc.manuscriptcentral.com/gpcomm

In our debut issue, editor-in-chief @bowmanspartan.bsky.social offers context for our Global charge and gives a bit of history on the role that journals play in the health of disciplines and associations: academic.oup.com/gpc/article/...
For us? 75+ years into @icahdq.bsky.social. =)
How do we get "lost" in a story? Is it the same in places like Poland, Peru, or Japan? 📖🌍

About nine months ago, we asked ourselves "what does it mean to be Global in the 21st Century?"
We pondered this with @icahdq.bsky.social and @academic.oup.com and the end result? Volume 1, Issue 1 of Global Perspectives in Communication.
As you're planning your #ICA26, we're bringing back our Peer Review Workshop from #ICA25. It's scheduled for Monday 8 June, 13:30 in Ballroom West.
The workshop is led by our Editor-in-Chief @bowmanspartan.bsky.social and he'll walk through the theory and practice of peer review. Don't miss it!
... and submissions? Send them via mc.manuscriptcentral.com/gpcomm.
Questions? Direct those to @bowmanspartan.bsky.social or gpc@syr.edu.
We're thrilled to be the newest @icahdq.bsky.social journal and we're so very happy to have the support of @academic.oup.com along the way.
And of course ... we're eager to see our first issue in nine days. Hopefully, you're as eager as we are. =)
Of course, sometimes manuscripts are a bit slower in review - we've fortunately had only 4 take more than 91 days. If it's any consolation? One was a revision and the other was invited back. That just means we're baking them "just right." =)
Our review times are very, very quick - at least, we think so.
* Our "average days from submission to first decision" is right around 20 days.
* It takes us ~ 3 to 5 days to assign reviewers to a manuscript.
* Desk rejections are very swift, and only one has taken more than seven days!
Our acceptance rate is just a hair over 20%.
That's paired quite nicely with a desk rejection rate that hovers around 60%.
But the neat thing? Our desk rejects come with *extensive feedback* and an encouragement to resubmit - and several of y'all have taken us up on that.
We've had 74 submissions since our mid-2025 launch, and that number is trending upwards. For 2026, we're currently on pace to double that one ... or even more? That's up to you. =)
NOTE: Numbers below are rough (as they'll change as soon as we post this).
For the start of the year, we thought we'd do a quick update on the journal from launch to date, rather than just the last two months. How are we looking 8 months in? Let's check it out!
So ... for some (ac)counting ...
A question we often get, "is it okay if our data comes from the United States?"
Absolutely. For us, "Global" means "everywhere." Ours is an inclusive journal looking for work that speaks to communication scholarship from everywhere.
Our hope? Work from all perspectives is side-by-side at GPC. =)
