Yep the batteries are the pain! Also they are button cell batteries so even worse.
I guess a ZigBee green button that uses kinetic energy could work, but they get bulky
Always good to use what you have laying around first
Yeah this makes sense!
I once had Xiaomi buttons in place. Same concept. Use a dish cloth, press the button to mark it as consumed in Grocy.
In hindsight probably better to just make them Amazon dash buttons, press the button to add Dish cloths to the shopping list
Oooh this sounds nice!
Is this just a NFC tag configured in homeassistant to trigger an automation?

Oh yes absolutely I love MQTT! It's a great protocol and an easy way to get devices into Home Assistant, without writing a whole new integration.
I had a Rainforest eagle doing the same, before there was an official first party integration into #homeassistant.
Yeah I dislike the idea of another container/service being a point of failure personally. But sometimes its a necessary evil 😔
Yeah I seriously debated this. The coin batteries are a real drag. However with powered sensors if the power is cut maliciously, my motion sensors also go down. At least if they're battery powered I can have a UPS on HA to receive motion events.
EP is probably something next for me to consider
That was an awesome writeup thanks for sharing.
I'm surprised ZHA doesn't have more support for this device, considering it's rocking a works with home assistant badge 😕
The question of course is which flavour to go with. Matter over Thread? ZigBee?
I'm leaning ZigBee with ZHA
Hand holding up a new Aqara FP300 sensor
These Aqara FP300's are back in stock, so I've picked up a couple to replace some of my FP1's. The FP1 mmWave sensors have been great for occupancy sensing, so excited to see what can be done with these

I've never seen this happen before with Z-wave 🤯
A Z-wave motion sensor unpaired itself from my Z-wave network. All entities in Home Assistant and ZwaveJS gone, the device back to factory pairing mode. I wasn't home, so it wasn't something I did
A sticker which says "my home works with HomeAssistant (most of the time)".
Truly there is truth in jest.
