something that's very hard for today's kids to understand:
* there were only a few major brands of chewing gum
* everyone knew all of them
* each had its own banging anthem, whose words we still know
* every one of these brands of gum fucks, to this day

These videos from the Cambridge Schola where they take random menus and announcements and set them to Anglican chant are my favorite thing right now.
I’ll just take this one thanks
I propose a full featured CLI for Drupal core. This is Drush's final act. We are so close. Lets make it happen. weitzman.github.io/blog/drush-f...
that's unfortunate, because we need to obtain a priest
I've only been trying for five years or so, but I've pretty much accepted that it's not for me. The liturgical year is a curriculum; it didn't come down from Sinai.
Yep, pregnant with my first was when I went from vaguely anti-abortion to emphatically pro-choice. Nobody should suffer like that unless they're signing up for it again every single morning.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

I’ve always thought you were, in fact, a very good guy, but if Chotiner wanted to interview you, I would start to look askance a bit
Take me down to the Parallax city where the far moves slow and the near moves quickly

I’m so sorry you need to know this.
I just woke up from a nap and somehow while I was asleep, everyone on the bus has figured out we are not going to the right place
honestly, “this is likely a forgery” is the only thing I want to hear anyone say from the pulpit about 2 Timothy 2:12. Maybe that falls into your “nearly” exception though.
I haven't seen it yet - is it set in a queernormative AU or something?
I haven’t read everything on the list, but it looks like pretty good company!
“Nobel Peace Prize” as a tangible object (concrete) vs. an institutional designation (abstract): good moment for teaching the ubiquitous linguistic phenomenon of polysemy

Hours after the U.S. invaded Venezuela to seize President Nicolás Maduro, President Trump sent a warning to the governments of Mexico, Cuba and Colombia that their countries could be next.

Sauron's security was defeated by two hobbits, who entered undetected through an unlocked backdoor, armed only with two swords and a flashlight

Maybe NOAA could hire some of those meteorologists back now? Please?
Yeah, we always had evangelicals—including my public school choir teacher in junior high!—telling Mormons we weren't Christian because we believed in a "different Jesus" (whoever that would be) or because we didn't accept Jesus as our personal Savior (insisting that we did made no difference).
Right? Just another example of how Mormonism in the Intermountain West and outside it (aka "the mission field") are very different cultures. 🤷♀️
Utah, really? Growing up Mormon outside of Utah, we always made common cause with Catholics, as fellow Christians who were apparently going to hell if the evangelicals got their way.
as if you would listen if we did 😂
