Thanks for coming to Athens! Your conversation with Mary Kate this morning was wonderful. I hope you enjoy your visit.

I wondered if you'd seen the Piper Laurie items in another auction at Julien's. I haven't seen any Twin Peaks fans talking about these. The coolest item is the certificate for her Emmy nomination for Peaks noting the specific episodes that were submitted. www.juliensauctions.com/en/items/160...
It looks like the full essay is currently openly available on Project Muse: muse.jhu.edu/pub/1/articl...
Pleased to see my latest essay in Arizona Quarterly is now available online. I've been eager to hear how my Poe and C19 friends are going to respond to this reading of "William Wilson." If you're interested to read but don't have access to AZQ through a library, let me know, and I can send a copy.
What a thrill to get to introduce Jennifer Egan at Ohio University’s Literary Festival tonight. She gave an amazing talk about her writing process, and she signed my copy of The Candy House.
I completely agree. I quit following her during the presidential election. It was sad to see her embracing such lunacy. I hope she has someone in her life who can help her.
It was wonderful to see one of my favorite David Lynch films, Wild at Heart, in the theater tonight on this snowy evening. As the Good Witch says, “Don’t turn away from love.”
I'd love to hear which Whitman poems you are using for this. When I taught "I Sing the Body Electric" last semester, more than one student got interested in what they saw as trans expression from Whitman. I'll look forward to hearing how it goes.
I got to watch Blue Velvet last night in a sold-out theatre. Most of the audience were college-aged students. It was such a thrill to hear them laugh or gasp (sometimes at the same time) to a film I first fell in love with at their age. David Lynch forever!
It's probably a bit too far for you, but we've got a Lynch film series happening right now over in Athens. It's every Tuesday night through mid-March. It started with The Elephant Man this week. athenacinema.com/letsdolynch/
It seems like serendipity that the (already planned) David Lynch retrospective film series at our local cinema started this week when so many fans want to mourn his passing and celebrate his work. The series started with The Elephant Man tonight.
"Sadistic" as a soundtrack for grading? Sounds risky.
This was exactly what was going through my mind when I was buying the final two issues I needed to complete by Wrapped in Plastic collection. I did it anyway. Collection complete!
Thanks so much to @poestudies.bsky.social and to Alexandra Urakova for publishing this generous and thorough response to my book.
Bluesky now has over 10 million users, and I was #1,799,361!
Rabbit is definitely a mess. But the Rabbit novels are American treasures.
I am honored to learn that my book, Poe, Queerness, and the End of Time, has been selected by the Poe Studies Association as the 2022 winner of the Patrick F. Quinn Award for outstanding monograph on Poe.
