I've talked about this before, but there's an awful Hoosier culinary thing they call "chicken and dumplings" that is nasty, overcooked, thick egg noodles in a gelatinous, cafeteria-style gravy. It is a vile, beige monstrosity.

Goodness. Why care about any of it?

It hadn't occurred to me to add the "didn't care who won" number in there, but if you do it really shows the folks shouting about how Harris would be no better than Trump really achieved their goals.

What?! "Didn't think their vote would make a difference" is at 35.

What? Look at the chart again.

Hmm? I have no interest in smearing the left as a whole - it's all about *in-fighting* for me.

I mean ... there was a very loud contingent of online leftists saying there was literally no difference between Harris and Trump.

Some of them are still saying it.

I'm not exactly sure what their motivations are, but they reliably show up every 4 years and make their opinions known.

... absent, presumably, some truly debilitating condition. If dude was, say, comatose surely it'd be the right move.

If you see this, quote with a picture of you in glasses. (Y’know…if you wanna)

I think we can all agree this would be less interesting if this were care he was receiving from a medical professional. Dude is just going to town on himself.

Comparing it to care that is provided by medical professionals seems like a category error.

I don't know any wrestling ppl irl, but the ones I see on line are as you describe them. I assume it's the pageantry and camp that makes it so appealing.

Hey guys - denigrating the Old Testament as punitive, hateful, backwards and etc is anti-Semitism. Don't do that.

I think about Disney's Pocahontas a lot.

That such a project went all the way through production and release w/o somebody w/ authority saying "Hey, wait a minute ..." is really something.

I think about it a lot.

(yes, I realize there are higher-stakes examples of this dynamic in action ...)

A winking guy with a red beard and a handlebar moustache. He's wearing a green bowler cap with a gold buckle. It's a drawing - a logo.

A winking guy with a red beard and a handlebar moustache. He's wearing a green bowler cap with a gold buckle. It's a drawing - a logo.

He was talking abt this guy. Recognized it? B/c I sure as well would not have.

This kid is way more serious about ginger ale than I am.

My kid asked me to pick up some ginger ale. "The one with the gnome on the label. Or maybe a dwarf."

Can you tell me what brand of ginger ale he was talking about?

(I figured it out, eventually, but it wasn't easy.)

Under Hollow Hills – lumpley games There is a traveling circus under the Hollow Hills.

Hey - I'm running a Under Hollow Hills one-shot next week.

Do any of you care to offer tips? I'm all ears.

So the Hungarian opposition's big idea was Vote Harder? And they thought, what, that they could vote the fascists out?

Anyway, I wholeheartedly endorse switching to FireFox. It was the easiest part of stepping away from Google.

(If you find some easy way to migrate away from Google Calendar, let me know)

Probably that's what's going on w/ these streaming service login pages, too. But when I'm that situation I don't want to have to fuss about around; I just want it to work.

Idk; I may change my approach to that.

I keep my Firefox browser pretty locked down, so occasionally I'll encounter a page that won't open or that won't act right and I need to open it in a different browser. But that's me adding a bunch of privacy & security extensions, not Firefox.

1 week ago 0 0 1 0

I have Chrome set as the default browser on my phone, b/c some streaming services (Prime, Netflix, etc) send you to a page that won't load in Firefox (at least, not the way I have it configured) when you try to register a new device.

That's the only downside I've encountered.

Whitney, Nebraska - Wikipedia

I grew up in western Nebraska. The town where I graduated high school (Crawford) had a population of about 1200 - apparently, it's gotten smaller since then.

Up the road, tho, is Whitney. When I lived there - right in Whitney - the population sign said 51.

The specifics are tied up in the "system doesn't matter" discourse, and it could very well be a product of folks talking past each other and/or taking maximalist positions to provoke.

idk, I just got here, and lots of these people are very angry, loud nerds. It's kind of scary.

... that is, I have personally run into OSR enthusiasts who made precisely the arguments that commonly get labeled "anti-intellectual."

1 week ago 1 0 1 0

Setting aside for a moment whether or not it's true or what exactly it might mean if it were, it's definitely commonly *said* that OSR has a strong strain of anti-intellectualism. And I generally understand why people say that, and I know the people who say that aren't entirely fighting straw men.

Promote whatever you like, but it's not required to play.

And also, wtf?

You pull out Fiasco and say "Here's a fun pick-up-and-play party game, but first everybody read this 134 pg rulebook!"

Who does that?

1 week ago 0 0 1 0

Did someone assume something?

1 week ago 0 0 1 0

You don't need to read to play, tho. That's the point.

Can't read but want to play TTRPGs? No problem! You can! Come join my table; we'll work it out.

See? Easy peasy.
