The current FOI act allows the public to request government records — and has compelled the province to disclose documents revealing the Greenbelt land scandal, the Skills Development Fund controversy and others.
The changes would restrict access to those kinds of records.

If you breach copyright to make publicly funded research publicly available they'll come at you with everything. If you turn theft into a business model investors can profit from, they'll change the law for you.

There's an direct analogy to be drawn here with the civic planners of the 60s, 70s & 80s who sought to reassure the public that their government had plans to reboot society in the aftermath of a nuclear war... sociologists label them "Fantasy documents"!
As discussed in this podcast...

Putin has been invited to join Trump’s “Board of Peace,” the committee that will oversee the reconstruction of Gaza, his spokesman said on Monday.

ArcelorMittal Dofasco quietly extends 'green' steel timeline from 2028 to 2050, gets $50M more from Ottawa #Hamilton
Dofasco says while its timeline has been 'drawn out,' it has the same decarbonization ambitions

Quite frankly, it’s outrageous that Mark Carney is cutting Statistics Canada. If he was Stephen Harper or Pierre Poilievre, I feel like this would be getting a lot more backlash.
Carney of all people should know the importance of high-quality data and information about the country.
A good point
First past the post is horrible for a democracy
The same applies federally
We need a new system
Trudeau failed us on that one
By choosing to no longer decarbonise, NZ is choosing to be poorer. Continued fossil fuel dependency means forever volatile import costs, increased public health burden, and international market risk. Economically stoopid.

This President and his Project 2025 administration pose an existential threat to the sense of a worldwide community of nations, that gave us the U.N., the Declaration of Human Rights, and the possibility of facing global crises together.

The Trump National Security Strategy is a deeply unserious document—befitting an unserious president. But it is no less dangerous for that. My take: open.substack.com/pub/ivodaald...
Does anyone see a problem with handing Ontario student records (incl. names, gender, birthdates, grades, medical conditions and health numbers) current and past over to a US corporation??? And then a cyber attack on this US co exposed those records! www.thestar.com/news/gta/tds...

MMP is the system most often recommended in Canada altho PR_STV is popular too ...or a blend of the two to cope with vast distances and low population. Germans even designed a MMP system for Canada when they testified at the Electoral Reform Committee. www.fairvote.ca/introprsyste...
Gerrymandering is no longer possible with an adequately proportional voting system. Single seat disticts and a winner-take-all voting system effectively disenfrachise many/most voters. If independent redistricting worked, Canadians wud have much more representative and accountable govt.
