I think if we're going to post work stuff to Bluesky, we should at least use a different tone or vernacular than Linkedin posts...I admit I'm guilty but I vow to do better.
Bottled sunshine? 🤔Thanks, Piotr, for capturing the yellow sample glowing brilliantly under UV excitation.💛🥳 Happy #fluorescencefriday! @standrewschem.bsky.social @standrewsosc.bsky.social
preweekend watch to make you smile.
I’ve been working on a work/personal project for the last few years. I want to introduce you to Atomicity.ca a digital lab notebook designed with professors and graduate students in mind. Still working on more features, but happy to share.
Inside the push to make ice rinks sustainable. Rinks use energy, water, and refrigerants, and they create microplastics. People are trying to reduce this footprint. by Prachi Patel. A woman in a jacket kneels next to an ice rink in an indoor arena setting and gazes at the ice.
Stefania Impellizzeri, a sustainable-materials chemist at @torontomet.bsky.social, is trying to make ice rinks more efficient and sustainable by fine-tuning water chemistry and rink-related materials. Read more: cen.acs.org/environment/...

I am heartbroken over the death of Kirsty Duncan. She loved this country and served in Parliament with a total dedication and passion for the people of Canada.
Deepest condolences to her family and colleagues.
The Angels will welcome her.

In a study following 23 million people age 18-59 (pretty young) for 4 years…despite the fact that the ones who got the COVID vaccine were overall older and sicker at baseline, they not only had 74% lower risk of dying from COVID than the unvaccinated but 25% lower risk of dying from any other cause!
Happy Holidays, Dave!

A great Opportunity.
why do you have to boil it.. can you autoclave at temp? loads of options if you just need the 'energy' but under pressure.
The new open source syringe pump control boards arrived. Exciting!
I completely agree.
In Canada too. Can confirm.
we were in the Saturday evening news...While I struggled to string words together (haha) Mason carried the team.

Y'all know I love Fredericton but the outpouring of support for Sara Holyoke takes it to another level. Over $100k raised in less than 24 hours. Not sure there's many people in this town that could get that kind of love but it's all karma. Support your community and your community will support you.

Nov 7th is the birthday of both Lise Meitner & Marie Curie. Of the 13 chemical elements named directly after real people (not mythological figures) only two are named after women: meitnerium and curium (the latter of which is named in honour of both Marie & her husband) #chemsky 🧪

Fantastic work by the indefatigable David Meier who persevered when most would have given up.
New research at UNB could hold the key to better aluminum recycling -- and to creating trillions of litres of sustainable, green hydrogen fuel every year.
