One of my favorite things about reading Ancient Greek texts in kevilex.com is the etymology section...
I find this especially fascinating because I have studied both Attic and Modern Greek. It feels like this would be a great bridge to connect them
I added a new feature to Kevilex (kevilex.com) ... now supports crasis decomposition in Ancient Greek. Tap ὦνδρες and Kevilex shows you it's "ὦ + ἄνδρες", right in the popup.
#AncientGreek
This sounds interesting! I haven't thought much about how prepositions differ from Attic.

Great! I'm about halfway through Athenaze Vol 1 — do you think I am far enough along to be able to read this?
This is not Plato
Yes, I do (but still learning)! I created this list of you interested in who else does as well:

I decided to start learning Ancient Greek for no particular reason two years ago and it has been very rewarding! Once I figured out how to learn it, my progress has been pretty good, too.
@hntdove.bsky.social I just reflected that your "Guns of the South" (which I read not too long ago and loved, thanks!) is about South African racists travelling to America to screw with our history, and now we have Elon...
Thanks, John. I started reading In Praise of the Useless Life today, inspired by you.
Just finished reading "Every Valley: The Story of Handel’s Messiah" by Charles King. Great book, highly recommended!

I'm currently focusing on Attic Greek, but I'm looking forward to eventually following some of this advice and learning Homeric...
You CAN learn Ancient Greek using Biblingo, which has similarities to Duolingo but is better at teaching. The app focuses on the Greek dialect used in biblical times, so it is a great place to start.
I was thinking about that too when I watched Spaceman!
Just started reading this yesterday as well. Great book. Terrifying how close we still are to nuclear armageddon yet it feels like a problem from the past.
Great translation. I'm currently reading @emilyrcwilson.bsky.social 's translation of The Iliad to my wife, and this will be next!
Vilken bra idea. Kommer att skapa samma nästa år. Tack för det!
I made a list for myself for this: bsky.app/profile/did:...
Thanks, this is great!
Is there a sizable community of people in Korea learning Ancient Greek?
I've noticed some here on Bluesky, and this after reading Han Kang's Greek Lessons, about a Korean learning Ancient Greek.
BTW, Greek Lessons is a great novel... Han Kang is a genius.
I have a list of my "must read" people to capture that, and then I make it my first tab. Works pretty well.
Looks like some great Ancient Greek books to look into from Juan Coderch!

You've inspired me to add Βατραχομυομαχία to my reading list. Thanks!
What books did you get?
This is exactly what I find so fascinating about reading ancient works—discovering how similar we are to humans across time. Great collection of translated ancient tablets:
