I told some friends the story of Clifton Williams, the astronaut candidate who died in a plane crash before going to space. His replacement took his pilot wings and astronaut lapel pin on Apollo 12 and left them on the moon. Then we go in a portal and there's stupid hats to unlock?

Or Megaman Legends. Which is cozy when the air pirates aren't trying to squish you, the ancient robots aren't trying to maul you when you go grave-robbing to pay the bills, or the precursor's computer system isn't trying to genocide the islanders.

The issue with many "cozy" games is they're so vibes-focused, they lose sight of the CONTENT of the media they're emulating. Yes, "The Wind in the Willows" involves sitting around drinking tea, but it also includes such heartwarming episodes as "Mr. Toad steals a car" and "Rat and Mole meet God".

"It's a cozy world, if you can keep it."

You need some stakes...and building up a place from ruins, defending a cozy place from business idiots who want to pave it over or nogoodniks trying to take advantage of the locals is *satisfying*. It helps break up the stasis.

I'm still poking away at this project. I'm not entirely happy with Resh's sportbike, though, and I'm also not entirely convinced I've got the scaling right ... it does feel a bit to me like he should be larger in relative size, but I'm not sure.

I was sitting on the floor for a few hours working on this and it was so annoying because they have an informative light show that plays on the skeleton periodically and I wouldn't be able to make out details during this 5-6 minute sequence. Also my legs kept falling asleep! Someone was taking photos of me working on it, I wonder if those ever made it online. Anyways, its a really awesome museum

One of the most famous mosasaurs, Tylosaurus proriger, submerges after taking a breath. It is dark above and light below, as tentatively suggested by some palaeocolour data. The challenges of interpreting scaly reptile palaeocolour, and the tiny scraps of colour data we have for this animal, preclude much confidence in chromatic interpretations of this species, however. Also, if you stare at this long enough, you'll see a few sharks. No foolin'.

Been thinking marine-reptiley thoughts today. Here's one of my latest #paleoart efforts along that line: Tylosaurus proriger. The colour is based on fossil colour data, although it's far from certain that this animal was black and countershaded.
