Kash Patel may have just opened the door for The Atlantic to put the DOJ under an electron microscope.
You mean to tell me no one at TNE saw that? Had anyone seen it, they would have known they had no business platforming her.
Just as problematic is a passage in her book, “When Religion Hurts You.” Specifically, she crossed a bright line in her 20s when she developed romantic feelings for a high school student working under her—and framed being called on it as abusive.
Here’s another example—its work with religious trauma expert Laura Anderson, who has a history of problems with maintaining boundaries.
In looking back a year after I reluctantly walked out on The New Evangelicals, one theme is constant—an organization that didn’t seem to understand it wasn’t just a startup anymore. (🧵)
Wow. Vivek Ramaswamy publicly shames a CSA victim. Casey Pursch exposed as a racist. Now this. The Ohio GOP is a clown show. They say that in wave elections, races are more or less given away.
Doug Wilson was on Piers Morgan and got absolutely SHREDDED. In a normal world, this would be the end of the Moscow Ayatollah.
I hope the charges are dropped. Vulin didn’t cause the provocation. He was responding to a provocation from someone cosplaying a journalist. Not many DAs can bring charges in something like this and keep their jobs.
You and Tim Whitaker both have to go for me to even consider coming back—and even then you guys have a REALLY hard sell to make to me. The way you handled this would be condemned if conservatives did this. If I didn’t call it for what it is, I’d be blinded by partisanship.
You make me look bad, Maylinda. And now you’re executive director??? After what you did, your presence on that board is a middle finger to RV.
If you seriously believe being called out for making that post was an attempt to silence a Black woman, you don’t have the temperament to be on a nonprofit board. People like you are why we aren’t listened to when we speak out about actual attempts to silence us.
I was so shocked at hearing this that I didn’t know how to react. When I listened the second time, it was all I could do to keep from screaming, “How dare you, Maylinda. How freaking DARE YOU!”
One of TNE’s board members, Maylinda Hale, made a spectacularly ill-timed post about the Reporting Victim. When called on it, she accused RV of sending “your people” to attack a Black woman.
I relistened to the “Deadly Faith” episode about The New Evangelicals as part of research for an upcoming Substack about the year since I walked out. The first time, I heard something that threw me for a loop. (🧵)
So you’re okay with that girl either dying on the operating table or being saddled with complications? People like you are why the pro-life movement left me—and why I doubt I was even part of it. You, sir, are a ghoul.
Going well on one front, not so well on the other.
Split screen Saturday night… #ForTheCrown #RingTheBell
I don’t want to hear a thing about abortion and LGBT when your party supports a plainly and palpably unstable man as president and who can remain silent when a major candidate for governor engages in victim shaming.
I weighed supporting Repubs on the local level in Charlotte at times. But any party that can remain silent when someone takes a cheap shot at a CSA survivor is not fit to govern. Add another item to the list of answers when someone asks me how I, as a charismatic Christian, can be a Democrat.
That no Republican, to my knowledge, has called out Vivek Ramaswamy’s cheap shot on Amy Acton is why I will never even consider voting Republican again. (🧵)
Trump is losing. And he (or whoever is behind this) knows he’s losing, hence these desperate tactics to staunch the bleeding. As we saw in Hungary last week, there’s only so much you can do when an electorate turns hard on you.
Whitaker has since stood down as leader, but is still a major player in the org he founded. That he is still associated with them and still churning out content proves he and TNE have lost their way. Change my mind.
Whitaker has carried on as if nothing happened. Last year, I noted it’s no different from how Steven Crowder carried on as normal even as his marriage was going down in flames.
This was a clear pattern of abusive behavior—and TNE’s board sat on its hands. As much as I supported TNE’s mission, its unwillingness to make the only decision it could make—cut all ties with Whitaker—was intolerable, and I reluctantly walked away.
This is coming from a man who, literally hours after promising to “embrace repentance” for the behavior that led him to emotionally abuse a female staffer, he subjected @rickpidcock.bsky.social to an almost Trumpian tirade. And he’d done the same to others as well.
In light of what I now know about Tim Whitaker and The New Evangelicals, this post is a load of hot air. (🧵)
Looks like Tulsi’s alternative facting about the Ukraine whistleblower is an attempt to save her job. Tulsi, you in danger, girl.
Any party where such an entitled prick and asshole can get ahead is unworthy of support. Sorry for the language, but he could literally cause someone to die or prevent a predator from facing justice.
