UNC to hire ex-NBA coach Michael Malone as HC, sources say North Carolina intends to hire former longtime NBA coach Michael Malone as the school's next basketball coach, sources told ESPN.

NGL, I really like this hire. I'm very familiar with his game cuz his Nuggets had my Lakers' number in the worst way for the past few seasons. Although he'll have to adjust to the college game, I think his championship pedigree and NBA experience will be great for recruiting. Great hire! #GoHeels

Seeing a lot of guys that transferred out of our program find team success when placed into the right roles. Transfers are part of the game in the NIL era but we've lost some guys to plain mismanagement and poor coaching. Gotta shore that up. Also need some more DAWGS, can't have all nice guys

I couldn't agree with you more. Our inconsistent top end and lopsided positional recruiting, misses in the portal and so-so coaching explains the mercurial nature of our team. Not good enough. This year was a step in the right direction. Caleb was a clear win. Hoping Mingo makes a similar impact.

This is clearly a serious problem that he's gonna have to resolve but he's not getting let go anytime soon. He's won 20+ games every season since he became HC if I'm not mistaken. He's a pretty good coach. Problem is that we need a great one to win a natty at UNC. Hope he keeps improving over time

This was a game where we really could've used Caleb to settle us in, get a few buckets and inject confidence in the rest of the guys when VCU went on that second half run. Hate that we won't get a chance to see him play in the tourney. Special kid. Sure he's gonna make us proud at the next level

Fun season for the most part. We got an iconic win over duke with the night night shot. Got to enjoy a true freshman phenom in Caleb Wilson. Had a pretty balanced team that pulled off some tough wins. Absolutely sickening ending but a solid season overall. #GoHeels

Missing clutch free throws. Turnovers. Getting cooked by quick guards over and over again. Not switching to zone to at least give those boys a different look. Everything that could possibly go wrong, did. I'm sick and tired of teams killing us with hero ball over and over again. Gotta be better

Our inability to stop shifty guards has killed us all season and it was our final undoing. Another big blown lead as well. I'm beyond sick. I dunno if we need to recruit tougher kids or coach better but our we gotta stop wilting under pressure like this. Bad look for our program
