I can’t remember the last time I logged into LinkedIn. I don’t even have it on my phone anymore.

Added an insight to Freewrite 15 where a member can now see some conditions that lead to their most productive journaling sessions that lead to a good mood. It’s called “The Sweet Spot”

Looks something like this:

On top of getting insights about your writing, you can now get insights on your mood after submitting a journal entry on Freewrite 15! Just tested this with a few early members. They love it.

Big congratulations to Team USA for bringing home the gold in Hockey at the Olympics today! One down, one to go.

I’ve noticed my online shopping has gone down drastically since turning on greyscale. Hard to buy stuff, especially clothes, when the color is sucked out.

Oh I can totally see why a cat would like curling!

Freewrite 15 - Daily Writing The online private journal for people who don't have time to journal

Might I suggest freewrite15.com?

I built it for some of the reasons you laid out. If you have any questions, you know where to find me!

Hey Wally, if you’d like a more private space to journal in, maybe for things you don’t want to share on social, I built a tool to make a journaling habit easier and more enjoyable.

Some of my favorite apps do one thing, and only one thing. And they do them so well!

So cool to see Brazil making history in the Winter Olympics.

Bingo!

Thanks! The idea is to make the starter step of writing as easy and pleasant as possible. The rest is considered bonus if someone wants to get more into the entry. If a member wants to write more, great! If not, at least they showed up for themselves and wrote something.

Frictionless is chaos. Even ice has some sort of friction, but I’d never advise running on it.

Intentional friction is everything. It assumes a deep understanding of emotions at various points in an experience.

One of my favorite features on Freewrite 15 is this moment of pause on the staging page. This is what people see while their daily entry is being saved.

Why do I like it? Because it helps people find ways to celebrate their win for the day. Something small to commemorate an idea: “I can do this.”

Basically the focus is on tiny steps towards consistency, not more more more.

Removing fear of getting started and making it dead simple to build consistently. 15 seconds a day of freewriting is all the app asks. People can write more if they want, but any more is treated as a bonus.

There are also helpful prompts loaded in if the idea of a blank page scares people.

Last night I (quietly) launched a product for people who aspire to make writing/journaling a more consistent part of their life.

It’s called Freewrite 15. You can check it out here: www.freewrite15.com

Rainier looks fake when looking at it from afar. I was in Tacoma years ago and couldn’t believe it was actually real.

I've been leaving my phone in the kitchen to charge at night. Avoiding my phone at critical hours (+2 hours before bed and +1 hour after waking up) is important to me.

Working in a new routine while removing the temptation at critical times has helped my sleep and morning routines immensely.

Not sure about iOS, but Android also allows you to set a time for your phone to go into grayscale mode at a certain time of day.

I have a hunch that removing unnecessary prompts (notifications) and turning on grayscale makes the phone less appealing to pick up.
