They've never tried to hide it over all the years I've been familiar with them. Always spelled their tactics out clearly, "here's how we spend your money".
Sounds like the SPLC has been using the FBI's playbook, effectively, and at a fraction of the cost to boot. It'd be cool if they counter-sued the FBI with the same charges.
Makes me wonder if a current SPLC investigation was getting a little too close for the administration's comfort to someone or some thing so it's launched a preemptive strike.
