Wow, even more Michael Mann podcasting! This time I got to be on with @nataliesnotinit.bsky.social who is brilliant and had some characteristically incredible film takes to share.
Worth watching because at the end she stops relying on canned answers and is honestβit seems clear to me that she doesn't believe white-coded people massacring brown people counts as genocide, because that's something only Africans do these days
Only thing I love more than watching HEAT is talking HEAT with podcasters who come slinging HEAT
The rare movie where you think everything's been said about it before, but a podcast can only crack a fraction of the film (shoutout @kransekage.bsky.social for making this an excellent guest tag team)
even looking past the disturbing (and at this point untenable) political position of denying Israel's genocide of the Palestinian people, this answer is just completely milquetoast and sucks. she sucks.
disqualifying!

Today: Womenn on Mann on Trylove!
With @kransekage.bsky.social and @nataliesnotinit.bsky.social, we finally crack open this melodramatic, load-bearing high water mark of crime cinema.
Then, itβs time for some rapid-fire HEAT-adjacent trivia. Buckle in.

#MEpolitics: No doubt Mills will eventually relent to signing an even more watered down, functionally toothless version of the data centre moratorium, and then campaign on it as an example of her progressive bonafides, as she is doing with so many other progressive initiatives she ardently fought.
Don't forget the miniature bust of half of a Greek guy's torso!
Sorry I just visited his website and didn't see this anywhere - can you link where you're seeing it?
Good listen. I quite enjoyed it but agree that everything fan service-y near the end felt a little odd. Pretty much every Grace segment is up there with the best stuff in the series though IMO.
The new VERY hagriographic Michael Jackson biopic starring MJ's nephew is out at the end of the month. But back in 2004 an unauthorised and EQUALLY flattering biopic was made in Canada. Here is a clip and I promise you have NO idea where it's going. I haven't done a single edit here.

A film that feels almost impossible to comprehensively talk about in the span of two hours, but the Trylove guys always find a way!
Noise music, being a woman in an industry built on misogyny, Internet-era decontextualized dehumanization, Gina Gershon's "I β€οΈ Gossip" shirt... we talk about it all!
