(I better see what pro pixelers are saying to make theirs preserve transparency and not be compressed to hell and back πŸ€ͺ)

Here's my go at the prompt. For some reason I decided that even though the given canvas size was 48x48, that I would use like a third of it lol #myart #pixelart

A fat woman with reddish-orange skin, blue eye makeup, long lashes, pale orange eyes, and berry-colored hair styled in a very short crop. She holds her high-collared, floor-length, billowing yellow coat close to her chest over her midriff-cutout blue jumper. She stands firmly in heeled boots of the same blue hue. The art has a black outline.

Sometimes I jump on call to harass @theartofgaming.bsky.social and call it coworking, but today we realized we both haven't touched pixel art in a while.

So for fun we rolled a character prompt, picked the canvas size and color palette, and got to drawing!

This was my shot at it. It was so fun!

I love iiiit πŸ™πŸΎπŸ˜

I don't do a thing with 3D yet (I've been wanting to do 3D sculpt for years now and I got myself Blender to try... some day lol), but I oughta watch some vids on how y'all do it.

Bsky is busted for media playback for me rn, do you upload any speed renders to YT or elsewhere?

I would love to see something incorporating finger waves. I don't see anybody picking them up nor laying them down these days, but it's a cute style, and I'm sure there's plenty of opportunity for a creative spin on them too.

I always admire perceptual use of color in paintings, as you've done here. Everything looks great, but your shadows are especially exciting!

These studies are fantastic, and I hope you continue to do more, whether you share them or not!

That's why I'm so down for this place.

I mean. /I/ haven't been posting much art lmao BUT I do see the way it builds up for folks. And people feel more willing to interact in other ways, like reposting to boost visibility.

I like to use OneLook's Thesaurus: onelook.com/thesaurus/

But I find OneLook in general is a very versatile word search tool. As for reverse lookup though, keeping phrases as concise as your examples yields better results than otherwise.

5/5) Maybe then you'll hit upon the deeper reason. It may be as easy as reviewing your story outline, or coworking in a focused, regulated group of people. It may be giving your body the food, water, exercise, rest, and inspiration it needs. (I need all that + meds)

Write anyway, but address /you/.

4/5) I encourage us to think about what's underlying our writing worries & discomfort.

Do you feel disorganized in your mind, in your space? Do you feel you've little merit? Do you feel alone? Are you strung out? Ask yourself aloud Qs like these. Listen to your mind's immediate, unfiltered answer.

3/5) But I do have perfectionism as a result. "If this draft is really good, it's like I saved lost time!" A wrong & fearful thought. In stressful times, it leads to feeling disonnected from my WIP, and overcompensating by hyperfocusing on details. A break to address stress breaks this cycle for me.

2/5) I have to wonder what's the root of our anxiety for this common writers issue?

Now, I rarely have fear around starting a draft. Moreso my ADHD dysfunction & inattention means I often have shifting "urgency" alarms in my head, or can't grasp a thought long enough to keep it in mental focus. +

1/5) I often see "How do I start writing" type questions. The correct answer is always "Just write or you won't have jack to tell," with actionable steps being bull-in-a-china-shop tips (good) to subtler tricks to "fool" yourself into writing (also good).

But I also see this often asked in fear?

(Ok so I guess Patreon hates my GIF banner now because it's nowhere to be seen in my post. Just absolutely retconned.

I will make use of it in every other crosspost, then.)

The only time I'll say it may not be as needed is if every single speaker has instantly recognizable speech. But be honest: How often are you writing a dialect, a speech impediment, education- or period-based diction, slang, and/or a completely different language in the same conversation?

4 days ago 1 0 0 0

Writing Tip: In prose, when I have more than two speakers in a scene and they're all going back and forth, I often find it helpful to place speech tags /before/ the dialogue to clarify the next speaker.

I'm reading a book where the author rarely does this despite 3+ speakers and I'm begging y'all.

I've a relative like this and their defense mechanism is to double down and say it's just their "personality".

When I bother to engage that now (easier to ignore/leave), I say wow, I have a personality too. And it's not to set my entire self aside to always make your life more convenient. Change.

Twin Flame, by Weyes Blood from the album And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow

When the 2026 movie came out, radio said the soundtrack was reminiscent of music playlists folks make of their fav characters or stories.

I didn't think anything of it until yesterday, I'm listening to Weyes Blood and going "That's so Wuthering" πŸ₯Ή: weyesblood.bandcamp.com/track/twin-f...

I'm reading Wuthering Heights again alongside first-time Wutherer @cryoslight.bsky.social, and I am just overjoyed that I get to introduce her to such a classic work about 18th century British cuckoldry.

Ace! The bot will also die out over time. Yes, I've had it happen too. It liked every reply to me & those immediately interacting w/ me, topics unrelated. Bc it was so aggressive, many were reporting it to the point I saw it'd already be banned after each like. Atp its ignorable, then it gave up.

Trust yourself; if it feels like spam, it's spam. Lots of ppl grift and scam during times of crisis & take advantage of others' good will.

Do your due diligence, always investigate sources, find legit & verified orgs & mutual aid networks whose mission you believe. Staying informed kills the guilt!
