Community-owned pubs showing strong survival rates into the long term, according to Plunkett UK in the MA: www.morningadvertiser.co.uk/Article/2026...

Maybe "want to" is unfair. Labour do invest in community energy, but they seem to treat it as an afterthought, with no ambition to push it forward.
I guess it's more about willingness. Labour are willing to let renewables become another market dominated by wealth, whereas Greens are not.
The discourse around this highlights the difference between Labour and Greens.
Labour want to move to renewables without disrupting the system of private capital monopolising public utilities.
Greens know this is a rare opportunity to wrestle some power back for ordinary people that we can't miss.

Tilley, a community-owned wind turbine on the isle of Tiree. It sits just beyond a fence on top of a hill.
Meet Tilley.
Tilley is a A single 900kW community turbine on the isle of Tiree. She delivers over 100 times more economic value per unit of capacity than the privately owned wind farms.
We need a Tilley for every community in Scotland

Thank you @newcastle_conservation for supporting raised garden beds that will expand food access, accessibility, and community food production. π±
*I somehow glitched the YouGov website into overlaying the political parties onto a completely different chart π If you can tell me which chart this actually is, you're also a big nerd π (hint: the date on the x axis is also not aligned to the data shown)

Hey folks, just wanted to share that I got to be part of this webseries called "Futures in Draft" by Storythings to talk about library economies! Here's the link to my episode. Other explorations of our possibilities are coming soon! ππ½

If you can't be bothered, then what hope do we have?
What a speech. All I have to add is this π
That's not at all what I'm doing though. I literally said in the original post you replied to that local Labour folk tend to be good people. The intention of that post was to undo misinformation distributed by Labour.
It feels like you have generalised me as something that I'm not.
Okay, we're obviously worrying about very different things, so let's just leave that.
But is this actually what you want elections to be like? Is a bullshitting contest, where the winner is influenced by your ability to pay fines to the electoral commission, really the best we can do?
Please don't be condescending. I'm used to it from the Tories, and Reform. I expected better of Labour.
If you can't see the difference between poor bar charts and actively making stuff up, I don't know what to say. Maybe vote for a party that would end FPTP which incentivises all this crap?
Greens have been using data from independent pollsters that actually exist. You can question the sample size, presentation etc. but there's a huge difference between that and making up both a poll and a tactical voting company, on the eve of the election, to declare your party the tactical choice.
After Labour blatantly and directly lying to every constituent less than 24 hours before polls open, I'm not exactly surprised.
Just have to hope now it motivates those Green voters to get out and vote - it'll just make it even sweeter if the Greens can pull it off.
It's not just that it almost guarantees the majority of people end up with a party they don't want, but it's poisoned our political campaigns and turned them into hateful misinformation contests.
I need to wake up tomorrow to Greens celebrating on the streets, and Hannah Spencer MP on our screens π
The Gorton & Denton by-election has been a reminder of how much I despise the concept of tactical voting.
How do you feel about Labour sending out fake tactical voting advice from a made up company?
I've always found local Labour folk to be good people, but the party itself is rotten, and it's really coming to the surface now they're getting desperate.
I imagine some of the inventor billionaires would still be relatively well-known for contributions to certain fields - probably living a much happier life, still inventing stuff rather than lording over their fragile empires.
Can't think of many examples though.
Weird thought:
Imagine we all grew up in the fair and equal world of our lefty dreams.
Which billionaires would still be world-renowned for their contributions?
Anyone driven to be the best, no matter the rules of the game? Who is only there because of status and willingness to abuse power?
This might be the most underrated feed I've made: it specifically looks for words that imply talking about how to solve problems rather than just complaining about them.
Obviously not perfect, but I feel like it has a better hit rate than most of my other ones!
What's your default bluesky feed?
This is mine (and it's definitely the best one π)
