After seeing GORE BRIDGE on a bus one too many times, I decided to make a fantasy map using only #Edinburgh termini names of Lothian Buses.

We need more proper sci-fi’s like this. Give me original Star Wars trilogy or 2001 A Space Odyssey any day of the week!

I did this a few weeks ago with my almost 7-son too! Millennial Dad’s keeping the original Star Wars excitement alive! The SFX still stand-up as some of the best ever done…

It was a full-house in Leith Arches last night for the Born To Be Wide event and panel discussion - “Edinburgh Music City”. Great to hear so many people talk passionately about what more can be done to build the Capital’s profile as a music city and how money from the visitor levy could help.

Yes, the constitutional question, not just for Scotland but also independence for Wales and N. Ireland is a big part of that. That and rejoining Europe at the earliest opportunity!

Pretty mind blowing polling for a party that's nearly been in power for 20 years straight.

Someone just paid $250,000 for Hunter S. Thompson's private 1973 Chevrolet Caprice Convertible "Red Shark". Now that's a car!! This is the same one that Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro drove across the Nevada desert in 1998's "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas". www.christies.com/en/lot/lot-6...

Definitely. The best, most resonant art will always shine through. I say don’t shy away from these things. They are truths that need to be told. I think there is a general overwhelm right now that everyone is feeling, including artists, a sense of where do you even start with some of this stuff?

But maybe those are exactly the narratives we need more than ever to make sense of the world right now?

It’s a very valid observation. Personally I’ve always been drawn to stories with a darker side and that explore that element of the human condition. I think it’s about how we frame those narratives to an audience as maybe there’s a fear people won’t engage with a “depressing” story right now?

It’s actually so painful to watch another beautiful Glasgow building burning down…

Mark Jenkin is easily one of the most exciting writer/directors in the UK right now.

Even more poignant when you think a few, short years later, some of those flower beds were dug up to build air raid shelters!

If this was Glasgow then these gable ends would be covered in beautiful murals, but apparently Edinburgh is too conservative to permit such things and so has ended up with giant LED advertising screens instead...

UK politics are broken & failing. But Scottish politics, democracy & govt are not in good health. Neither is the SNP or independence & we should recognise this, discuss it & do something abt it. My Sunday essay on my site. gerryhassan.com/blog/scotlan...

Thank you Gerry for providing these hard truths about the current Scottish independence debate. I can feel it too. We need to take a new collective approach to the movement. Something is stirring, we just need some action now. The intellectual debate surrounding indy needs some new impetus.

Thank you Mike for always providing this important context and questioning of SNP policy and strategy. Scotland needs more big picture thinking, imagination and future focussed inspiration right now! The Indy movement can, and should be leading this, as the SNP appears to be lacking ideas here!

Thanks for the recommendation! The Electric Kool Aid Acid Test is one of my favourite books. Gus Van Sant was supposed to be making a film version of it but it never happened. The Magic Trip doc is also superb! 👏🏻

Congratulations to @hiddendoorarts.bsky.social on pulling off their most impressive festival to date. World class art, music, dance and performance in an abandoned paper factory on the edge of Edinburgh. 👏🏻 You have to see this space to believe it…

Today's events in Washington are a clear cause for deep concern, for shock, for anger. What we need now are cool heads and clear thinking.

We must stand firm with our European allies in the steadfast defence of Ukraine. That is where Scotland stands. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🇺🇦
