When someone chooses to spend their free time learning from me, it's such an honor & a privilege. There's a multitude of creative writing teachers out there, & I feel so lucky to be able to share my gifts. Writing itself is a lonely biz, but lifting others up along the way feels so good. :)

I am impressed with my short fiction students for being committed to doing the work even while the world seems like it's falling apart. Being creative in trying times is extra difficult, but they rose to the occasion & I'm proud. I feel so lucky to know them.

Last night my flagship 6-Month Short Fiction Intensive Course wrapped, & my students read such beautiful work in their celebratory event. We had a gorgeous showing of darkly fantastical tales & magical realism. I'm SO proud of them — 6 months to write 6 stories, diving deep into the craft with me!
