I went down to southern Illinois to Edgar Lee Masters' house with Fred to research his production of Spoon River. We lit incense in the cemetery to get rid of the bugs. I think I still have the charcoal impressions my mom made of the gravestones that eventually became the set. Love you Fred.
Can you keep me posted on if you hear about a memorial service
I worked with Fred on several occasions. He was a singular and monumental presence in a Chicago theatre scene that often felt exploitive and inhuman. Fred was the opposite of that. He always wanted what was real and what was honest. He will be sorely missed.
