Last night's episode of Academy was beautiful. I enjoyed writing this up a LOT more than usual.

Now watching: Blade (1998)
Not my first time. Won't be my last. But I did just pick the DVD up at a charity shop today for literally less than 20 cents. So I'm on cloud nine and watching some classic vampire media tonight :)

further to that discussion about Generative AI...
The footage out of Sydney overnight is abhorrent.
Peaceful protesters set upon by an army of police, punches thrown at people with raised hands, people praying ripped from their knees.
Is this violence the social cohesion that Labor wanted?
Just rewatched The Corbomite Maneuver. Classic effects and aliens, reiteration of the "new life" mantra, and a display of the nonviolent lengths Kirk will go to. Outside the comment about female yeomans this is really solid Trek. ADORE the bridge lighting too. Forgot how gorgeous TOS is.
William Shatner as Kirk and Leonard Nimoy as Spock playing 3D chess together.
Exterior shot of the Starship Enterprise heading toward the galactic barrier. The barrier is a pink-ish ribbon in structure.
Gary Lockwood as Gary Mitchell and Sally Kellerman as Elizabeth Dehner. Both of their eyes have a silver glow to them, indicating their activated ESP powers.
William Shatner as Kirk, holding a phaser rifle (that is, for some reason, not used in any other episode despite the fact it looks AWESOME). In a rocky environment, exploring the surface of planet Delta Vega.
Done with the second TOS pilot - Where No Man Has Gone Before! Never seen the extended cut until now. Outside the opening narration, banging alternative theme tune, and act breaks onscreen, it's the same.
Cosmic, god-level stakes, but a human story underneath it all. Such a cool romp.

Just watched TOS' first pilot - The Cage. Dated 60s-isms aside, it's hard to see quite why it was passed on. Gorgeous production, Hunter's charming as Pike too. Even though the show was completely reworked (retrospectively making this a little... odd in places), I still find this quite a fun watch.
Poster for Phantasm (1979). Tagline is "If this one doesn't scare you, you're already dead!".
Late night movie rec'd to me by a good friend. Phantasm (1979, dir.: Don Coscarelli)
Good lord was this fun. Effects are cool, music's banging, it's genuinely kinda spooky in places. Decent story about brotherhood underneath it all too.
Recommend! Always love me a cult movie.
The problem here is that Villengard were such a non-presence in the episode. Much like Joy.
