The European right is pivoting away from America Electoral logic is driving a shift as polls lay bare European disgust at the US administration

Thanks indeed to @financialtimes.com for publishing me on the anti-US turn of the European right. From moderate conservatives to nationalist radicals, it is nimbly shifting towards a politics of autonomy. The centre and left must move fast - or risk being outflanked.

Tom Brufatto on Times Radio: "The whole purpose for seeking closer relations with Europe has been to improve the British economy and help with the cost of living.

"Effectively, trying to undo some of the red tape and the trade barriers that Boris Johnson's Brexit deal imposed on the UK economy."

Josh Rogin: “Somebody shorted the oil market today by hundreds of millions of dollars exactly 20 minutes before Trump made his announcement—

If you see that once, it could be a coincidence. But that's happened at least three times, if not more, since the war began — that's a pattern”

What ever happened to all those millions of dollars worth of steak & lobster that Hegseth bought with our tax-dollars? All just for Republican Trump conies on the Hill or what? What an insidious scandal that Hegseth mismanages the DOD budget for cronies, while sailors & servicemen go hungry always?

Wider point to which I keep returning - and I sense in Brussels as you may - if the UK is to trusted to rejoin it would be after proving to feel European rather than haggling details which in any case wouldn't happen much as an applicant

I've reported on Iran for decades. What comes next could be even worse — The i Paper Few Iranians I speak to believe this war represents a real turning point. Many fear it could be the start of something worse

BBC Persia journalist saw a report that the street in which her parents live in Iran had been hit. She was unable to make direct contact 8 days.

“As we said goodbye, I found myself trying to memorise their voices & faces.
Will I see them again? I don’t know.”

The people who caused the crisis in our water industry should be paying us back for damage they have done, not making more money from us. As a Co-op as well as Labour MP I often talk about mutualisation - this video explains how it could be part of the solution for the future of our water industry.

I was kind of indifferent at the time [about euro membership] and did not appreciate how stupid UK politics/economics could get.

2 days ago 5 1 1 0

People been talking about Rejoin again and whether joining the euro would be a good thing or not, presuming that we might either have to, or a campaign would have to presume that we would, even if some kind of Swedish waiting room reality was possible, or even less likely, another opt out.

Trump, IRS In Talks To Settle U.S. President's $10 Billion Lawsuit Trump's adult sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, and the Trump Organization are also plaintiffs.

Trump is reported close to a "deal" with himself under which US taxpayers would pay him $10 billion.

I served in multiple communist and authoritarian dictatorships, but I never witnessed corruption on this scale or this blatant.

Pay attention folks. This is how it's done. Trump sues his own DOJ, run by his private attorney, for $10 billion. Normally that would go through the courts with the DOJ arguing AGAINST giving Trump $10 billion.

Instead, his DOJ will negotiate a settlement OUTSIDE of court. Literally inside dealing.

the president of the united states is personally looting the treasury to the tune of literally billions of dollars and that he is not being immediately removed from office and tried for high crimes against this country is a devastating indictment of every part of our political system

It's a key element if Reset and beyond are to work. Would it be it too opportunistic to highlight how use of the flexibility in the options open to states means free movement means free movement for employed workers not unlimited migration?

The Brexit delusion is dead – so now Keir Starmer doesn’t need to pretend any more | Rafael Behr To rebuild relations with Europe in a dangerous world, the prime minister needs to win big arguments, not hide behind outdated red lines, says Guardian columnist Rafael Behr

This is right, but I'd go further: winning the domestic argument on the free movement of people is what's needed to unlock anything further than the reset. That means Starmer has to repudiate many of his own arguments on migration.

I personally would agree with this, but the polling here suggests that voters' top choice is still muddling along and trying to stick to red lines.
(Re)-Join becomes no 1 if this is off the list.
But the present strategy has to be seen to fail first.
A Cunning Plan is needed.
