From someone who is decidedly red pilled on AI, Steve Yegge has a few thoughts on how draining AI assisted development can be for human operators. It runs somewhere between thinking at a different level of abstraction and dopamine loops. He calls it a vampire: steve-yegge.medium.com/the-ai-vampi...

Have you called your senators? Please let them know this is not for sale.
Pro tip tho if you rent cars. Costco car rentals are industry competitive and go towards that annual spend. So if thatās part of any annual budgets, it goes a long way.
Sociocracy takes this same approach, in a way that is designed to also scale to larger numbers of participants.

The one downside is ensuring you get enough circulation of the idea to ensure people aren't blindsided by changes.
Four portraits of Minnesota residents inside and outside their homes. From left to right: A woman in a hijab, an older woman wearing a red whistle, an elderly couple in winter coats standing in the snow, and a woman wearing a buttoned-up cardigan and dark blue jeans.
The news has moved on, but ICE is still in Minneapolis.
My neighbors are still patrolling streets, driving strangers to work, and providing aid. As a photojournalist at @propublica.org, I wanted to know: What do they look like in their daily lives?
So I picked up my camera š
Bucket does sound like a singular thing in a single space. Might I suggest āsliceā as in a ābucket sliceā or a āpermissioned space slice?ā
Year from now or September / 6 months from now?
Iād go for the best 17 you care to get and let it ride then. They last for a long time so amortized the cost/value is in your favor to buy all the features you could want (esp RAM and storage - those are not getting cheaper soon!) and go high mileage.
Wait for the 18 or 18 pro. Consider getting on a zero interest plan with Apple Card. Might as well live in the future if youāve already waited this long.
Or, go the other direction and find an ePaper phone. Get less āengagementā in your life. Get a used iPod and DSLR too.
For being a digital scavenger hunt marketing campaign, it actually reminds me a lot of nonchalance.com/jejune.html and some of the other public scavenger hunts like that. I think there's potential for IRL stuff like that.
Might I suggest giving ARM
Ubuntu a spin? Itās quite good. 2025+ has been the year of the Linux desktop for me and Iām finding it works really well.
REAL ID or driver's license? Not proof for the SAVE act. Birth cert or passports, in-person registration only. Who do you know who loses their right to vote?
SAVE excludes valid votes, incl. married women who changed names. It takes just a minute to tell your senators NO: 5calls.org/issue/save-a...
Keep Minnesota Housed! Much of the medĆa has left, but ICE is still in Minnesota and hundreds of families need help with rent in order to avoid eviction. Visit keepMNhoused.com to adopt a rent or donate to rent funds! #keepMNhoused
Today we are launching a new intitative of Stand With MinnesotaāKeepMNHoused.com, a rent-relief campaign backed with a $1.5 matching fund from the Wilson Foundation.
Thousands of MN families are at risk of eviction because of the ICE occupationās lasting impacts. We can keep them housed.
Things are very much not over here.
If we had VPN tunnels between participants like a Tailscale network then we can make different guarantees about leaky metadata. But if the data is going to live on public channels, I donāt know how you anonymize further without using a different protocol altogether. Like mixing blocks Tor style.
Solving for leaky metadata requires delegating trust to the medium. ATProto is public so a reasonable trade off. Signal gets trust because they seemingly prove that the metadata and data arenāt traceable to an account. They canāt spill secrets beyond a few bytes.
Itās somewhere in the library of babel. This hint is sufficient explanation: libraryofbabel.info/bookmark.cgi...

trying to wrap my head around how we are going to raise $15-28 million dollars for the expected rent need in Minnesota in March when the news cycle has now passed us.
Particularly when CBP agents have already been caught wearing Meta glasses to immigration raids even without facial recogntion www.404media.co/a-cbp-agent-...
This part. The underlying economic need is, if anything, greater than it was two weeks ago.
Curious if you used godot-ink or something else to power TR-49?
@ralexanderson.com yet another!
There's a lot going on in Minnesota, including an effort to allow mining operations next to Voyageurs National Park aka the Boundary Waters. This wilderness is pristine and untouched. It won't be if we don't preserve it.
Ask your senators to vote NO: www.rei.com/action/netwo...

Also, Tangled, Codeberg.org, or Gitlab. Self-host floss.social/@forgejo.
Definitely the best one for me to finally understand Cynefin, which I'd read about years before but didn't understand until this piece nailed the language around it.
Not the first or perhaps not the best, but @gordon.bsky.social on Cynefin crossed my mind when you brought up your 2x2 matrix. newsletter.squishy.computer/p/strategy-i...
