The perennial challenge of permanent exclusion Permanent exclusion is on the rise. Is it being used with good reason and to good effect, or is it an ineffective sticking plaster?

A struggling child is excluded, sent miles away to a Pupil Referral Unit, and placed among other struggling peers.

Reintegration is rare.

The system isn’t fixing the problem – it’s isolating it. Change is overdue.

TEP training needs to cover having to help evict an incredibly agile cat from a nursery classroom 😂

Reflecting on a conversation with a parent who felt ashamed I'd be doing a home visit when the family live in 2 rooms. Something about telling her I grew up in a similar situation helped to level us. This is why we need to widen entry to psychological professions.
