Sadly my anecdotal experience was different in Nov. Several Dem friends told me they and their families "had to" vote for Cuomo. He's a terrible candidate, they all said, but "I just can't vote for Mamdani" for [insert reason here]. Had there not been Cuomo at all, I think they'd have stayed home.
