The consequences are already here: antisemitic hate speech has exploded on the platform, and at least one mass shooter has named X-promoted influencers as inspiration. This is what matters, far more than any gesture. The pattern is long-running and undeniable. But even all that is small in comparison to the new power that Elon Musk holds. He and his Department of Government Efficiency have taken control of the Treasury Department’s payment system as well as the General Services Administration.
