I'd rather be at home on my couch playing a videogame with my kids, but instead I spent hours volunteering because I want to make the world a better place for people who really would rather I didn't bother, and that's very sad.
Because I wish I was privileged enough to feel like all parties are the same to me. I wish I felt safe enough to opt out of politics. I wish I didn't feel like the future of my family is determined by the whims of people who don't really care either way.
Worst thing I heard whilst door knocking yesterday, simply from someone hearing we were calling about an upcoming election:
"Go away, you're all the same and all awful."
List of 48 books, starting with "Very Clever Baby's First Reader" which was an eight page humorous card-sized book which came out in 1988, going on to "Massif", which is a 100K words long SF novel out in September 2026.
Every now and then when I think I'm not making enough progress on a book, I look back at my list of published books and consider that I've had this same thought with every single one of them. (Even the short or very short ones. Getting them right takes time.)

Thousands left without water in the middle of winter in the UK. And those same people are now facing a massive bill hike.
Privatised water is a scam.
I've written to the Prime Minister asking why he won't end this rip off and bring failing South East Water into public hands.
We had four days without water. We appear to be due no compensation as SE Water have blamed it on "storm damage" for a storm that barely registered in this part of the country. This is a get-out clause to cover for an appallingly-run company. Bring it back into public ownership.

The World Inequality Report shows that 0.001% of the world’s population hold 3 times as much wealth as half of the world population.
The 1% in the UK have almost 5 times as much wealth as 50% of the population combined.
Inequality is a political choice. It's time to tax wealth.
