Many Mennonites participated in and supported the Nazi regime. What does that mean for us today? jonnyrashid.substack.com/p/what-do-we...

Advocating for Palestine is morally plain, politically strategic, and keeps us all safe. Any challenger to the far-right needs to make their position clear. jonnyrashid.substack.com/p/yes-palest...
And democrats called the protesters antisemitic.
lol no. Democrats do it all the time.
Ezra Klein makes a very insightful here about the ZIonist conflation between Israel and Jews: "If you keep telling people that if they oppose the Jewish state then they must hate the Jewish people, eventually, they will believe you." www.nytimes.com/2026/04/12/o...
Thanks!
One of my favorite things about my Egyptian immigrant mother is that she called the sitcom "Seinfeld," "George."

A sober and encouraging read after Chiles v. Salazar. It was a painful defeat, but we should not give up hope. open.substack.com/pub/sames/p/...
originalism, i am told, is supposed to respect popular sovereignty. but here we have two “originalists” who insist that their language games — and that is what this is, a language game meant to extract meaning where it does not exist — ought to control over a sovereign act of the people.
SCOTUS’s ruling on conversion therapy on trans visibility day is not an accident. Believe people when they tell you who they are.
There’s no such thing as “Israel-first” policy. Israel is doing exactly what the United States wants it to do. jonnyrashid.substack.com/p/stop-contr...

TIL Cesar Chavez was anti-immigrant.
The abuse of Cesar Chavez, once revered for his labor and advocacy, casts a dark shadow on his legacy. But Chavez is not an exception. Patriarchy is something all men must actively divest from. jonnyrashid.substack.com/p/no-man-is-...
Matthew seems to suggest that Jesus straddled both a donkey and a colt during the Triumphant Entry.
“What’s crucially important, though, is developing our ability to separate emotional, relational, or political shock from a more logical or conceptual kind. And also, to hold some space between a movement or ideal and its leaders or exemplars.”

No man is immune to patriarchy's lure.
You can't have any heroes in this world, it seems. Lord, have mercy.
We pray because the temptation to call such violence necessary — to accept it as the price of peace — is powerful enough to deceive even those who believe themselves righteous. faithandleadership.com/how-children...
In a new book, Matthew Avery Sutton argues that Christianity has influenced U.S. politics forever, and that is why we should stop using the term “Christian Nationalism.” Here’s why that’s wrong. open.substack.com/pub/jonnyras...

My man Jonathan Brenneman is right: “Christian Zionism is the foreign policy of Christian nationalism.”
Happy to be a voice among many in this article and for Mennonite Action.

The U.S. isn't doing Israel's bidding. The U.S. only cares about its power, and Israel is its proxy in the Middle East.
When you begin to understand that the interests of the U.S. are rooted in its power and hegemony, it will no longer be confusing to you why it starts wars that are not in the interest of the regular people.
We are seeing more evidence that the U.S. was responsible for the attack on an Iranian girls’ school. Whether it was a mistake or not, these incidents are features—not bugs—of war. jonnyrashid.substack.com/p/there-is-n...
Christian Nationalists gift wrap fascism in Christian symbolism. Hegseth is more loyal to the sword than the cross.
It makes perfect sense to protest and oppose an authoritarian and oppressive government. For those living in the U.S., that work needs to start at home. jonnyrashid.substack.com/p/the-us-nee...
You can fairly criticize both parties if either of them say they won’t start new wars.
